cambelt whine

hi, just replaced cambelt and now have whine from cambelt area i asume is belt too tight or is this norm with 480's,,,89 turbo

Did ya replace the tensioners as well?

hi, no just the belt,i took the tension off and cleaned up but really it has only been on car for about 2000 miles as last one shattered luckely no damage occured

I had a whining noise coming from mine and luckily the mechanic picked up my car on a flat bed, and when he took the cambelt off the tensionor at the top just fell apart. Therefore, he changed them all and the belt. So i would change them all to be safe. Sham

hi, wouldnt it have whined before belt change?and with tensioner being so new, but car has been stood for about 3 years

Tensioner was probably damaged when original belt went or was the cause of the first belt faliure! Change it, dont mess around change the lot, a new head is'nt cheap!
