What would you do while the engines out?

Post by Roo » Tue Apr 08, 2008 8:29 am

Well, I now have the engine and gearbox from my 480 out and sitting on the subframe and was thinking while its out I should take the opportunity to do any 'when the engines in the car' awkward jobs.
I'm thinking about changing the clutch for starters as i think its still on the original but is there anything else you would recommend to check/change/service?

Timing belt and tensioners, water pump. Flush the cooling system of the block through as well. It's alot easier to do with the car out and it's no doubt full of gunk!

There are a number of mechanical devices which increase sexual arousal, particularly in women. Chief among these is the Volvo 480 ;)

clean the inside of the engine bay aswell -- polish it so it shines like the outside
also paint bits on the engine you cant get to
sub frame would have to have a good old coat of hammerite aswell whilst its out ;)

replace sucky steel breaklines with copper onces, wont take long with the engine out of the way, and you will never have to worry about it again
