Hi.
any update to this?

I want to decat my car and am not sure whether it is worth, from a performance/ecoomy point of view, putting the lambda sensor in the decat pipe.

What would happen if I just cable-tied it up somewhere?

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers,

Antony

I took my lambda sensor off in view of replacing it with my new one, but after taking the old one off and throwing it somewhere in Mum's flower bed I realised I couldn't fit the new one until a week after (lack of tools). So I drove around for a week without the sensor. I can tell you, after I fitted the new sensor, the economy was far better and throttle response was much crisper.
Performance wise, I'm not sure. Doesn't the ECU go into closed-loop when at full throttle? If it does, then it wouldn't make a difference. All I know is it made a noticeable difference to my car when pottering around town! Without the sensor I was getting 22mpg  (never went below 27mpg with the sensor back in) - of course I now dream of getting that sort of mpg :(

Bottom line, is I'd leave it in if you can - it'll most likely run better with it than without it.

Hope that helps anyway!

Thanks for that answer Crispy-d.

I will try running without it plugged in for a few days and if it doesn't like it, I'll get the decat pipe drilled and tapped.

Too wet to think about replacing the cat now anyway!

Can anyone point me at where the lambda sensor connects up to the loom please?

From what i remember, somewhere near the passenger side (uk car) suspension turret, 2 plugs, 1 is white with 1 wire (signal), the other is a square black connector, with 2 wires, thats the heater for it.

Yes, it's somewhere near the battery tray.

OK thanks, I found them. I thought they'd be nearer the sensor!
