I think I'm heading for a new starter motor soon as it takes a few goes to engage these days. This wonderful 480 has went from 2nd car to 70 miles a day motorway mile muncher, it is starting to show it's age!
I can find a load of starters really cheap (like £15!) brand new on eBay but they all say 1992-1996 in the listing.
Is this to do with the number of teeth on the early engine's flywheel that I encountering when looking at timing belt kits?
Here are my car's details:
VIN: XLBEX143EHC509849
Engine number: B18E 104C007812
Is the starter motor different on early 480's?

Re: Is the starter motor different on early 480's?
There is no difference between diameter and number of teeth between old and new flywheels. Starter motors come in two types though. The newer, Valeo I believe, are a little smaller as well as stronger. Their strong permanent magnets caused a fault code from the newer CEMs, something you do not have to worry about.
Too old to bother
