my car on tick over is lumpy revs constanly drop to near cutting out then build up to about 1500rpm then repeats the fault i have changed the icv but could both be dodgy.

Quite possibly mate they are prone to dying and getting gummed up with muck from the inlet..
Also check all your vac hoses, make sure you have no air leaks..

I had the same problem solved mine by cleaning the air flow meter ... Easy to remove just two clips plus the sensor cable, gave it a good spray of WD40 cleaned internals with a rag ... Mine has a stable idle now ..

a bad lambda will also cause a bad idle
