Sometimes threads get out of hand. People start offending each other or do things that are not allowed (like asking for illegal software). These sort of threads will end up in the 'Hall of Shame'.

EVERYONE PLEASE LOOK AT THIS

Post by Nirex » Thu Dec 01, 2005 10:49 pm

Have a look here

http://volvo480.northernscum.org.uk/for ... 8178#88178

I am breaking this car and it has to moved within the 4 weeks, if the bits are not sold them they will be crushed on the car as it will be going to a scrap metal merchant, really don't want to but need the space and have nowhere to store all the parts.

might have space for a few little bits but only for a week or so after the car goes.

come guys, you know it makes sense since these parts cost the earth from volvo.
also they are from a car that was running mint till it was broken, not some smashed and trashed 480 at a scrapyard.

if you don't like a price, make me a sensible offer, or if you don't see something you need, just ask.

WILL DO A DEAL ON THE WHOLE ROLLING SHELL AS IT IS, WILL NEED TRAILERED THOUGH AS UNDRIVABLE DUE TO NO ENGINE

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

yeah, i broke a mint running 480t but it would not take much to restor to its glory if someone wants the rolling shell. just the usual little bits of rust on the rear arches. nothing major.

i broke it for the engine, gearbox, ecu's and wiring looms,

to use for a volvo powered renault five, since its a renault engine in the first place. only volvo knew what they were doing and fixed all of renaults little problems. lol

come on guys, there are shed loads of cheap, cheap, mint condition parts here for grabs, no raking round cold manky scrappys for something only to find its been smashed by some over zelous git trying to remove the part next to it or is been buggered in whatever crash put the car there in the first place.

all parts must go whatever does not get sold or reserved for someone will get crushed, really just do not have the space to keep as I have the on running renault 5 conversion, I'm fixing and restoring an h reg bmw 316i 2dr coupe E30 shape and running a peugeot 205 diesel.
there is no space for the 480t now.

cheerz guys

Nirex,

Instead of decimating a 'mint running 480t' (to use your own words), why not just ask for the parts needed? I'm quite sure you would have got a lot of positive response to your quest. Now you're just demolishing a very good 480, breaking the heart of many 480 afficiniado, and we are supposed, for crying out loud, to be delighted with all the cheap goodies you have on the market!?
Please think again before making such an ungainly offer.

Sincerely,
Peter Moens

i agree, theres plenty of rusty 480's you could have broken for the engine etc!
is anyone else getting sick of the invasion of 480 murdering R5 owners wanting a decent engine? maybe we should set up a seperate sub forum. or, why dont you all start your own forum? not being narky here, just a thought :D

Ditto Peter. Trashed a 480 turbo for a Renault 5 - oh dear. :cryhard:

Your discreet advert may have been better located just in the 'Parts for sale' section anway, don't think you need to post in multiple topics for exactly the same thing, unlike Ray Charles - WE AIN'T BLIND MAN!

Hope it was worth it.

Actually wouldn't this thread be more suited to the HALL OF SHAME as in my opinion, it's a damn shame what you've done to her. :kill:

Well whatever the case, it doesn't belong here in general discussions. And I hate seeing a car get dismantled, even if it's not in good order. But a fine working car, that's just a complete waste.

I have to agree with Murf (and everybody else too)...it does seem as though there have been an influx of R5 people heading this way. I know i started off with a 440 on this forum, but it was a) a 400 series car, and b) a bloody Volvo!!

I'm not taking away the fact that the parts on offer are decent parts, and it is good to see that you at least offered *them* a good home, it's just such a shame to see so many 480's lately being destroyed for a R5. Why not get a 440/460 lump, it's identical and there are *tons* of those knocking around.

There have been a *few* genuine people who frequent the forums who own different Renaults, but now it just looks like people are coming here for a quick fix and f*cking off again. I think creating a section in the non-480 cars is a good idea, or as Murf said, get your own forum going-i doubt it would be that difficult with all the engine nabbing Renault owners about!

I felt this way when this thread opened, thought it was just me-but it appears i'm not the only one thinking the same! That poor 480...

look guys, instead of making nasty comments and slagging me off,

why not stop and find out the circumstances,

i bought the car from a mate with a nackered clutch, i had been looking for an engine to use for quite a while, even as you suggested looking on here and had been in contact with a few members of this club regarding the sourcing of an engine.

in the end my mate who owned this lost where he was able to keep it so he sold it to me for absoulute penuts (it had had a full service and parts totalling £750 only 76 miles b4 the clutch went)

All I thought is that instead of destroying ££££££'s worth of parts from it, I would give other 480 owners the chance of keeping their cars on the road. Would you rather i just crushed the whole car with the parts still on it. You can feel free to pay expensive volvo prices for parts. but try to not spit the offer back in my face.

so come on guys, get off your high horses and give me a break. Instead of critisizing me for this, just buy the parts or stop moaning at me.

sorry guys for this outburst but it gets on my nerves the all people do its get all bent out of shape when all I'm trying to do is offer parts from a car that was getting used for this conversion no matter what.

sorry to some of the people who have actually contacted me regarding getting parts,

looks like your fellow club members are trying to ruin this for the rest of you.

from what they are saying it looks like you all don't want my parts,

so i might just resort to getting rid of the whole car, shame but thats what happens when the minority spoil it for the majority.

i was going to remain a member and poss buy another 480 to keep and run, also get my 480 owning mates to join,

but if this is the way you treat members I will quit the club and reccommend that my mates stay well clear.

being out right rude to me was uncalled for.

Oi! There is nothing wrong with the renault 5 1108cc engine! I managed a hearty 105mph down a massive hill once in mine( 91 was the top speed on a straight. This was right before it ate my clutch and bugggered my speedo lol!) I miss rattling along in my renault 5 :cryhard: Certainly not worth killing a 480 turbo tho. Attack the weak rusted out lifeless cars lol!

That sounds exactly like the letters i get in work from customers , except they are moaning about credit cards and late payment fees

Now if we all calm down a little, I don’t agree with a mint 480 being broken for an R5, and like most on here I have too seen quite a lot of this happening lately, I think most people on here would approve of your second option, fix the car up and sell it, that way one more 480 stays on the road and you get some extra cash to get an engine from a 480 that is completely shafted, what about turbo_mad’s engine? Look here incase you haven’t seen it yet http://volvo480.northernscum.org.uk/for ... ght=#86635 front end is fine so the engine would suit you R5 :)

the engine conversion is already done and I'm now left with the rolling shell full of parts,

these can either be sold to members so they can keep their cars running or they can be left on the car when it is taken to the scrap merchants,

it makes no difference to me guys.

I just though that you would appreciate the supply of cheap, good condition, working parts. rather than go and remorgage your house to buy them from volvo, or take chances they might be duds when you get them from scrapyards.

I almost feel sorry for the people that made those comments to me, then i realise they are just small minded, petty people who have nothing better to do than spout off their sanctimonious ramblings about something they think matters.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an absoulute petrol head and will be till the day I die, have spent the last 12 years of my life working with cars for work and pleasure, including some motorsport. And I can tell you, some of the people I have met in motorsport take the term "fanatic" to a whole new level,

BUT...................

At the end of the day, its only a car, pieces of metal and plastic. why do people feel the need to be rude and insulting over the dismantling of it.

To be frank, I agree with this wholeheartedly; This thread degenerated very quickly into piss taking and then into out and out "pack mentality" which was not called for and is not welcomed here.

Members here are NOT the guardian angels of every 480 in the world, it is NOT your place to be the judge, jury and executioner over other people's actions.

You can (and do) have your opinions and you may express them, but only in a reasoned and mature way; I thought all this childish pack mentality was beneath you all, please don't prove me wrong.

At the end of the day, it is the OPs car; he may do with it what he wants. I see it as very courtious and respectful for him to offer the parts here first; he doesn't care for the car as a 480, so he could have just scrapped it.

R5 owners taking 480 parts and even breaking whole cars for certain parts is NOT NEW; it's been going on for ages, and I've seen great mutual admiration and respect between R5 and 480 owners for years; especially in Birmingham.

I suggest everyone think about this; I want to keep years of mutual respect and regard between R5 and 480 owners; I don't want this forum to become a great "Berlin Wall" where all which is not minty white 480ness is to be jumped upon and torn apart by the baying pack.

Now I'm going to get off MY high horse, I've said my bit. Now this thread is locked.
Cheers!
