brown ecu eprom

Sometimes threads get out of hand. People start offending each other or do things that are not allowed (like asking for illegal software). These sort of threads will end up in the 'Hall of Shame'.

The program is 8K. What eprom is actually used can be a 2764. 128 or 256, depending on connecting address lines to ground and/or the addresses programmed.

There's nothing secret about it, just open the box, get out the eprom and read it out.

You do realise, that we've heard all this somewhat abrasive talk from another R5 owner before, and nothing came of it.....I await with baited breath.

i like people that talk loads....keep talking, and maybe....just maybe, if you do do what you say youre going to, i will hold up my hands, say sorry, and thanks.....but like chris says....everyone is still waiting

maybe, a better way would have been to do it....then offer it to people who wanted it, rather than *potentially* making yourself look a dick

i dont know what you look like, but i aint a dick

i did this work in the past and will do it again, just out of annoyance this time. i own my renault now for 2 months and the b18ft donor merely 2 weeks, so dont blame me for the shortcomings of others pls.

if anyone wants to add constructively then feel free to PM me, the rest keep running after people that make u wait indefinitely.

sorry for wanting to help, not popular these days anymore it seems.

the irony of having someone you dont know slate you was obviously lost on you....hmm.
i didnt say you were a dick...i said you had the potential to make yourself look like one.

help is always good....so is diversity.....the more tuners the better....gives me and the other non technical members more choice and options....

just dont slate people you dont know, and have no idea about....do you think rich will be as understanding as you were when i did it to you?
just pause and think first before posting yeah?

I'd like to know how things like this are done also.

I think its a good thing if more than one member can offer good advice on ECU modifications.

Yea, basically Mr R5...if you have info to share, we'd all be grateful to hear it, but theres no reason to have a stab at rich. He's well respected.

Oh FFS!!!

this:
since rpruen is MIA and pretends its all sooooo secret
and this:
oh, one more thing : bosch doesnt help me and i dont need their help
coming from someone with three posts to their name makes you look like your just being a c**t, to be quite honest, so you can't blame people for not giving you the respect you think they should.

No-ones saying they wouldn't appreciate any help, however perhaps your way of going about it could have been a bit better judged?

ok....heres the start :

- Bosch Fuel Ecu 0280000551 (brown label), Eprom B57325 which after some research on the net seems to be a simple 27C32 :o

- Bosch Ignition ECU 0227400125 (purple label), Eprom B57423 which again after that listing converts to 27C256 :o :o

A bit surprised that theres a much bigger eprom (well, not to ourdays standards but back then) in the Ign ECU than in the Fuel one.
In an escort cosworth for example, a 27C256 (or was it 128?) contains ALL maps meaning boost, fuel and ignition....

I did give it a go for reading them on my good old EMP-10 but that little puppy decided to go belly up and refuse work today.... :( Anyways just ordered a new one so hopefully im getting the .bin files and some data to go with it on here in a few days.

Really cant wait now to see wot i can find, quite excited i am :D :D

i have positive confirmation on the following :

- Revlimit is in the code. throughout the 2.2 ecus it has been found in different locations, so could be that even between brown and others its not in the same place BUT it is there somewhere :D
- Eproms are what i said above
- Theres software that might work partially from the saab world where LH was also used BUT their ignition box was different

I would like to do all changes through software rather then modifying the ecu, AMM or anything else physical on the setup. Its a process, be a bit patient with me.

p.s. as above my eprom burner is toast...if anyone has the .bin files and emails them to me i'll be a tad quicker. thanx for your help

Bin files were put on the internet by tobi480turbo or hjkort. Just a few months ago, there should be a topic on this forum. Do the search!

I think the Renix is far more advanced then the Bosch system. Like the Magnetti-Marelli it controls both fuel and spark and has more maps (like backups when sensors fail).

Although back in the days Volvo had more trouble with the Renix ecu's then with the LH2.2.

Most gains are to be found in the boost and ignition timing. Although ignition timing only will have effects on heavily modified engines.

did a search and had no luck at all :( if you change boost then ignition and fuel needs altering, one doesnt go well without the other really. this then has to be checked against AFR on a rolling road ideally.

its a painstaking process to find the maps and all limiting entries but its defo doable. i see the resistor mods etc as dirty fixes to what should have been done in the maps, although sometimes cant be avoided if u cant find something in the eprom itself.

good to see that theres contribution also

ok....was able to read the eproms. i will post them tomorrow for everyone to look @ with the hex editor.
also i will put up the graphical version of the fuel map :)

oh, before i forget, the rev limit is not where it is on saab LH 2.2 ecu's but more about that later.
