Re: 1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Diary - Half an Update November 2023

November 2023 - Half an Update... [/u] Since September 2022 a text was sent every fortnight to that paintshop man. This continued for 8 months. :wall: May 2023 I was told rectification work was ready. Turned up for collection. Driver's seat impregnated with dust. Should never of fitted the leather ...

Re: Lanoguard - anyone used it as rustproofing?

This year I have been a victim of advertising too! :bla: I saw the Lanoguard adverts and fancied trying something new. Lanoguard has some amazing recommendations from organisations associated with coastal use. Like many of these things, it’s just the emperor’s new clothes – any product that keeps ou...

Oh my goodness Sylvia. I'd be mortified if some of my cars got a handbrake high bath.

As if 480's need any more help taking on water, let alone acts of God!

Best wishes sorting it out.

Re: Info & Pics of the Japanese market 480s!

Quite bizarre. Thanks for posting. Many bizarre things in 480 world. Had a quick at the parts catalogue I have and no mention of Japanese lights. The red side markers are in the parts catalogue (3402472 & 3402473) but that's not to say they are exclusively Japanese - I think they might of been in pr...

"WJO" Celeb

With the advent of the hateful website "Collecting Cars", it seems many classified websites are trying the auction format now. Car & Classic is no exception with this tidy Celeb #21... https://i.postimg.cc/PqYBc59Z/wjo-celeb.jpg Thankfully I screenshotted it at lunch as it's disappeared now. I bet i...

Great to see Laurie.

The GT's do look dead smart on the factory VESA's.

Nowt wrong with Toyo Proxes... always had them on the Mk2 and never had cause for complaint.

Yeah... Volvo dealers.... forget 'em!

Great to see updates.

Even from factory, the wiring around the battery and across/under the bonnet closure panel (aka "slam panel") is utter rubbish.

Re: FOTU 2023

Good write-up Jeff. Great to see UTT looking so smart. I went 2021 and it seems nothing changes re. getting in. "Unexceptional" is such a difficult thing to police. Me and a good mate had huge debates that day about what cars were or were not unexceptional. Being an infidel he totally believes the 4...

Spotted Alconbury : Black J-plate

I haven't seen a 480 out in the wild for many a year.... then I only go and spot one in my village! It was a proper  moment! Black with red stripe JxxxTBW on traditional 5 spokes (Pollux or Atlas type) Couldn't see if Turbo / ES as it whizzed passed me. From Alconbury Weston -> Alconbury, pas...

Following on from that, they had a Peter Horbury interview on the sister channel "Little Car" :

Re: Alternator question

Sometimes alternators need a slightly higher RPM than idle to "kick-in". Once they're going however, they're going. If you start the engine and slowly bring the revs up, will it kick in just the same (eliminating the driving part)? This all might suggest the pulley is the wrong diameter on what you ...

Don't know if that's a bug specific to a 1983 240 or just general problems with a 40 year old tape deck! If its "auto reverse", then if the tape reels go tight, the player thinks its reached the end of the tape and flips sides. This will get your switching as you describe. All 40 year old tape decks...

Re: Paris Blue Convertible Prototype up for sale!!!!

Like many things 480; a missed opportunity and over-caution from Sweden no doubt. The Saab 900 was US sold and that never had an ugly roll over hoop. You'd think with the 480 already having two individual rear jump seats, it would make for a great conversion - it even has the two headrest bumps as s...
