Re: Any members in the US?
A while ago I had contact with a guy from a Volvo dealer in the States. Some years ago he went to the Netherlands and took two 480's with him, a Turbo 88'r and a '88 ES. The guy told me that they did research for a long time to find all the 480's in the States, and as he told me they found four car...

Re: CR-402I: which brand? cassette belt replacement?
Yes, my cd adapter occasionally has the same problem. Like you said, some adapters have a tab that when pushed alter the position of the head so that it matches better the one on the deck. I think it's called the "cross-talk" button, but this doesn't always works (at least for me). I get better resu...

Re: CR-402I: which brand? cassette belt replacement?
Hello Mickael C. Did you mean CR- 4025 ? I have also one in my 480: http://img236.imageshack.us/img236/4586/vistageralcockpit2hn0.jpg The tape player on my radio had stopped working too and I managed to replace the rubber belt that drives the inner mechanism (I use a cd player to tape deck adaptor)....

Re: 1986 volvo 480 ES for sale!
Pre #350 body? I don't think so, but I can't be 100% sure. However, the license plates are very early so it must have a very low chassis number, maybe not just that low. Still, it looks promising and interesting... The asking price is ridiculous. Someone has already made an offer of 3.000,00 euros!

Re: info centre switch
Cheers! Very good work. :D Some time ago I did only the upper leds and used some transfer sheets for the numbers. This was the result: http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/2244/pic1023300.jpg http://img863.imageshack.us/img863/4974/pic1023301.jpg http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/4881/pic1112354.jpg ht...

Re: electric 480?!
Yes, back in the day volvo experimented with the electric engine: http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/1148/img279z.jpg http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/1286/img279b.jpg According to volvo top speed is 118 km/h and range is 120 km. Battery charge time is around 45 minutes, and in the first 15 minutes of...

Re: Bonnet Foam padding
Not from volvo anymore...
But the type of foam used is sold on rolls or "mats", so I suppose It's possible to cut new ones to shape. However, you'd need the old ones to use as templates. I think that's a somewhat expensive material, though.

Re: Illuminated switch?
Actually... it is possible to make the switch illuminate when it is pushed. :D I made it in a way that the small green led pokes out just slightly, but it is also possible to put the led completely inside. The problem is the white round covers of the heated seat buttons don't fit. Otherwise, they wo...

WAECO - is this good?
http://www.waeco.com/en/4381.php
Wow, these products are really hot!
Or cool!
Really!
Anyway, has anyone purchased from this brand and tried these?
Opinions?
Good?
Expensive?
Bad?
Waste of money?
I'm getting a lot of ideias for fitting these in the 480!

Re: Voltmeter behaviour
I' ve taken the hole set of gauges out and connected to an external DC 12V power supply. The result is the same! :( The needle of the voltmeter still wobbles untill it stops... kind like a compass. This likely means my voltmeter has some internal malfunction. :( Anyone has experienced this before? N...

Voltmeter behaviour
Hello guys. New year and new problem too. :( I noticed my voltmeter started acting strange: It does read the voltage but the needle bounces back and forth untill it finally settles. It is a very fast motion but noticeable to the eye. This happens when I turn the key to position II, just to provide e...

What's wrong with this road?!
So many accidents have happened that someone decided to setup a camera. The result is scary, to say the least. Just watch the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-DGXf0Qk1U&feature=player_embedded  This is in Portugal, and even if we disregard the fact that many people drive unsafely and/or ...

Re: New 480 ES Owner - Pics Added!
Some time ago, a white car with the side stripe turned up for sale on marketplaats: http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/4973/noib1eebspwjayfcoxfxq.jpg http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/7388/cagiib6vdozeq.jpg ´~ IMHO, the profile looks nice because it gives the impression of a "descending" rear . :)
