Re: do the front component speakers have a crossover box?
...or if I put a crossover in the line before the woofer, I could split the wiring like normal & link directly to the standard tweeter & a replacement woofer? (OK I admit I'm a bit scared about getting at the tweeter!) In that case I wouldn't recommend the use of the standard tweater! The original ...

Re: do the front component speakers have a crossover box?
Right, so if you wanted to upgrade the speakers you would have to go for a full component set, as any replacement for the woofer would lack the extra +/- pins to link up the tweeter & any attempt to replace the tweeter with a more modern one which uses a crossover would probably work badly at best?...

Re: do the front component speakers have a crossover box?
Have you tried replacing the capacitor on (some of) the ones that don't work? There is a catch however, the capacitors are "special" (i.e. non-polarized electrolytic capacitors) and unless the same type is used the regular ones won't last much. I was told this was a common mistake (yet a flagrant er...

Re: do the front component speakers have a crossover box?
The original woofers mounted on the front doors had an extra pair of pins (+ and -) used to add tweaters, located near the door handles. I believe it was a small capacitor inside the tweaters that worked as a passive-crossover making it possible the two speakers connection without changing the overa...

Re: Volvo 480 Turbo side stickers
Although it is not very clear this ES seems to be similar. Hmmm, perhaps these stickers have some story we're all unaware. http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/2653/compeasdobodykit1.jpg http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/613/compeasdobodykit2.jpg http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/8104/compeasdobodykit...

Re: AT LAST..., THE REAL LED SWITCH!!!
Yep...got it from a guy who worked for Volvo Cars NL at the time the 480 was introduced. He took it apart to use the switch for a toy-oven for his daughter :bla: He didn't know it was a rare swich, and was a bit confused about the high bid. At first he only wanted to sell the cover with the leds, b...

Re: AT LAST..., THE REAL LED SWITCH!!!
It seems dutch member 'storm480' got one too!!! Congratulations! ;) But he didn't get it from Orlandostap or did he? I don't want to say anything else because of my translation problems, but perhaps 'thalenvisser480turbo' can shed some light on this, that is if 'storm480' doesn't mind. Anyway...

Re: Hey, what car is this?
It would cost you a small fortune to get it to Switzerland? 480s partner is from Portugal ;) But I don't think that this small detail has allowed to reduce transport costs  IMF says no no no noooooooo... This is just an oridinary 1987 ES 1.7 ... My achilles’ heel I'm afraid... :?

Re: Someone fitted a rear spoiler
I've seen another type of rear spoiler on ebay which supposedly fits the 480. Maybe some member of the forum made it? http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/4315/kgrhqiokoce35ugkt0nbnlr.jpg http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/3666/kgrhqnike3sl1kq7bnljzsw.jpg http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/1872/vl7dtebdtv...
