I assume you're talking about the VEM (airco). The cause of the blower working intermittently is a dry solderjoint on the printplate of the VEM. Easy 5 min job to resolder it. Not so easy to remove the vem unit from the dash, but doable. Resoldered mine more than a year ago and still working as it s...

If you hear a whirring noise then the bendix from the starter went bad. Starter works but the gear from the bendix sticks, thus not engaging with the gear from the flywheel. Sometimes it helps to take a hammer and give the starter a blow to free the bendix. Or put the car in 3rd and push it a few me...

First thing is the 21/5 ruin the fitting because you have to force them in. The pins on the side are mirrored in those while the 21/4 pins are offset. Another problem caused by this is that you can fit them the wrong way round, the original ones will fit only the right way. They can cause all kind o...

The one under the sparkplug is the watertemp sensor. There is another one located in the airhose coming from the airbox. Could be that one that is faulty. And check the wiring and connector from the watertemp sensor between ECU connector and said sensor. Resistance of this sensor should be 2500ohm a...

Did you touched the accelarator during start? How warm was the engine when turned off, still cold or after some miles? Which sensors do you mean. There 2 of them a watertemp and an airtemp. You could try a bottle of injector cleaner in the tank wynns or something like that. I do that once a year jus...

My infocentre is a little iffy at the moment (it needs resoldering) but I found on two occasions the red warning light went off when the temp went below about -6c. Is that normal? This is normal. Volvo thought that it becomes irritating for the driver that the warning light is on all the time at te...

You'll need the 21/4watt bulbs, those have the offset pins. The 21/5watt bulb is the one that causes pop up problems. Those have the pins opposit each other.

Here you can download the installation manual. Bit difficult to read though as it is in scandinavian! They are pretty rare so not easy to find, sometimes you can find one on ebay etc.

Seems to me the coolant sensor is ok. When it is malfuctioning it would have had a fixed resistance or very little variable resistance at different temps. The turbo's don''t have a socket #2 to diagnose fuel injection/ecu problems. Now, this was funny. Whilst in test mode with ignition on. The follo...
