Re: WANTED: Tailgate/rear windscreen wiring loom
if you have frayed wires then if yours isn't stopping in strange places yet, I am afraid it soon will be... David David, when you say stopping in strange places do you by any chance mean the whole car? Reason I ask is that having driven 130 miles last Sunday evening, totally trouble free but throug...

Re: Time for my 1st 480!!
As an aside, the company selling the Paris Blue ES also has a super cool yellow Mitsubishi Colt Starion Turbo http://stonecoldclassics.com/coming-soon-mitsubishi-starion-turbo/ . Why do I love quirky cars? If only I had a double garage!! That Starion Turbo certainly looks a beauty! Never wanted one...

Re: Time for my 1st 480!!
Re the digital clock thing, they're not all that rare but there seemed to be a time when people were asking silly money for them on eBay. Think the market has cooled somewhat lately - maybe its a post Brexit slump! What's the score regarding the digital clock? Is it rare?

Re: Time for my 1st 480!!
Shame you can't see from the photos whether that Paris Blue ES has got a traditional clock or a digital one - we all know that that can swing the value by at least £500! And if it's a traditional one, well, I've a spare digital clock which I was keeping for my pension but if the price is right now.....

WANTED: Tailgate/rear windscreen wiring loom
Hello all, does anyone have a spare tailgate/rear screen wiring loom and if so is it an easy job to fit? Whilst trying to balance the rear screen open (really must replace those struts one day) I noticed some very frayed wires in the section between the exit from the body and the point it goes into ...

Re: Time for my 1st 480!!
Hello & welcome!
There are a couple of low mileage GT's on the Car&Classic website at the moment. Rather than paste the links here have a look at the recent posts under the "Auction" thread.
Haven't seen any really good Celebrations or GT's recently but I'll keep my eye out.

The '92 white ES auto that was sold at the last Matthewsons auction has turned up on Car & Classic for £2950: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C809533 http://www.mathewsons.co.uk/vehicle-auction-catalogue/1725-1992-volvo-480-es Also newly listed on C&C is an '89 ES - also in white and also an auto...

Re: Auction
Are you still looking Jimbo? Gauging "value for money" with second hand cars is always an interesting exercise and I reckon luck plays a huge part in determining whether what you get lives up to your 'value' expectations - especially if you intend to drive the thing! I paid £1750 for my Celebration ...

Re: Auction
Just been browsing the auction sites and I see that Matthewsons Auctions in Yorkshire had another white 480 in their sale on 22nd October. It was a 1992 ES Auto with 34k on the clock. Estimate was £2-3k (but we know they were a grand wide of the mark last time with the Celebration!) and it says it s...

Re: WANTED: Off-side headlight hinge
Hello David
It's the black plastic hinges at the back of the headlight I'm after. It looks like the top part has snapped off on both sides and someone has fabricated a repair.
Best regards
Aidan

WANTED: Off-side headlight hinge
Hello all. My off-side headlight hinge mechanism has broken and I'm wondering if anyone has a spare? On investigating the problem we found it must have broken a long time ago and had been repaired - pretty well as it happened as I've had over 4 years trouble free - but this time its terminal. A frie...

Re: Celebration at auction
Did it say what auction house this is? I've tried googling "Classic Car Auction 15th July 2016" but no joy.
(There's a Celebration in the classic car auction at Matthewsons on the 16th July but that one's got 88k on the clock)

Re: Auction
For a car with 88k on the clock, that estimate of £2500-£3500 is certainly 'punchy'!
But apparently it comes with spare parts that the vendor values at £400............so that'll be two digital clocks then!
Will be interesting to see how it does.

Re: 480 as your only car?
I bought my Celebration in 2012 as what I thought was going to be a "stop gap" between company cars. As it happened it turned into my daily driver and I did around 60k miles over the next 3 years with no major issues but a good few "you don't see many of those" conversations on petrol station foreco...

If this sale completes it surely has to be a record.......

I think that's going to be a big "if" though.

Re: Driver's Seat stuck
I had exactly the same problem and it turned out to be a 50p piece jammed in the runner. My initial visual inspection failed to reveal the problem and it was only when I got in there with a camera and took some photos that I spotted it. Eventually managed to extract it and the seat was as good as ne...

Re: Missfire/hesitation/jolting on throttle lift off
Just read this thread whilst searching for some explanation to the recent "uneven" running my car has developed and it sounds like I'm in the right place but not exactly sure as to which sensor I need to replace. Car was running absolutely perfectly until I went out on a very wet day (serious amount...

Re: Hard working 480's out there?
I bought my Celebration in 2012 when it had 46k on the clock. It had a comprehensive history which showed that for the first 17 years of it's life it had been driven sparingly but serviced regularly. That all changed and over the next 3 years it did 56k without ever letting me down. It's now on 108k...

WANTED: Passenger / Near side wing mirror fairing in white
Hello all I'm looking for a white, passenger (near side) wing mirror fairing. I've got a Celebration but I presume they are a common part with other models? Not sure what happened to the existing one, it was there the other day but has now disappeared! Let me know if you have a spare you'd be willin...
