I have found and removed the ECU, which interestingly shows some signs of dampness (white deposit) on the exterior. When you refer to checking, do you mean by substituting a replacement or is there some way of checking it that I haven't discovered yet? Unfortunatly, substituting with a replacement ...

However,... I can't find the CEM in the passenger footwell (that is the picture). Is it possible that these were relocated on late models? My car is a '95 Celebration so is very close to the end of production. Hbol says it is under the bonnet, but what does he know? If anyone is interested enough t...

Surely it's not likely to be the CEM causing the pulsing injectors, as that only control the non-engine specific things. (Although I'm not suggesting that the CEM isn't knackered too). In fact, I'm sure I've read a post on here by someone saying that they'd completely removed the CEM, and the car st...

Indeed - an interesting project. There's another thread that I'd been keeping an eye on about it here: http://www.mitsiclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5422&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&sid=009a946e3ec8c9c891e453537653a4ef As far as the brakes go, they're the vented 4-pot brakes on the front, st...

I should add... it's not my auction - the car doesn't belong to me any more. I just though I'd post it on here, as it used to be my car. - and it's not as 'perfect' as the photos make out. It has my 'homemade' rear light clusters fitted (the old ones were knackered!), the paint on the rear bumper is...

FOR SALE - 1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Auto, 73,000 miles

Just thought I'd post this on here..... A few weeks back, my girlfriend's dad bought my 480 Turbo from me, to replace his little old Fiesta as a runabout. He's decided that it's costing him too much in petrol to run (well... compared to a 1.0 Fiesta, it would!), so it's now on eBay. I'm not sure wha...

Also, I fitted an uprated recirculating valve, from an Audi TT - exactly the same as the original Volvo one, but stronger, as it was suggested that the Richmod would kill the original one quickly, and it would then leak boost!

Yes, mine boosted into the red, but then dropped back down a bit and held at the orage/red marker. When I'd had the MBC, I did only have it set quite conservatively though, as I didn't want to risk damaging the engine. I found with the Richmod, I didn't see a lot of difference from the boost needle,...

Packaged up and ready to be posted tomorrow, by Special Delivery.

I had an MBC before I fitted this, and the improvement in torque after fitting the Richmod is very noticable. The car was much nicer to drive with the Richmod - more power than the MBC - 'usable' power, if you know what i mean!

FOR SALE - 'Blue-label' Richmod ECU on eBay (link updated!)

Now, for once, this actually IS my auction... I've sold my 480 Turbo, and beforehand, took the Richmod ECU out of it, and put the standard one back in. So... my Richmod ECU is back on eBay - 2 months after I bought it from there! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180294556625 Ben.

A quick way to test for sure if it's the sensor, is to unplug it - If the fan stops straight away, then starts up again as soon as it's plugged in and the water's cold, it's definitely faulty.

This post might help:

It'll be the sensor in the bottom of the radiator. My last 480 did the same thing to me, and I ended up having to disconnect the battery every time I stopped for a week, while Volvo ordered in a new sensor for me. Something makes think that it's not a fused link - it's permanently connected via the ...

I paid £115 for one on eBay a few weeks back. This was before bkf_uk had his 440 turbo repaired, and it wasn't looking promising that he'd be visiting Rich again, offering his ECU chipping service ( here ) for £80. However, buying one on eBay did give me the advantage of not being without my c...

Sounds like he's talking about the wishbone bushes. Bushes are about £10 each + VAT from Volvo, and then a pain in the arse to fit, unless you've (or your mechanic) got access to a press. You can buy complete new wishbones, with new bushes installed from here (with pics - "Suspension Arms"), whic...

I'd buy Sachs shocks all round. I replaced the suspension on my last 480 with Bilsteins all round, and then tracked down the knocking noise at the back to the rear shocks. I took these off and replaced them with Sachs shocks at the back which cured the knocking once and for all. My current 480 has k...

The seats have their own thermostat inside them. Even in winter, when it's cold, I find my seats are only noticably warm for about a minute after turning them on, before they reach the point where they turn themselves off again (via the thermostat). I used to leave mine turned on at the switch all y...

Back when the 480's first came out, my parents had 2 of them (one after the other - not at the same time) - They started off with an '88 ES in white, and then a year later traded it in for an '89 Turbo in petrol-blue, both brand new. I remember at the time my Dad telling me that you could tell which...
