Have you stil got the rear struts for tail-gate?
mine are a bit 'low' in pressure
what is style of interior? Mine is half leather and drivers heated seat is not heated so SWAMBO might be interested?
and maybe the exhaust, tail section on ours is 'fair'

Re: Central door locking
1993 2 litre drivers door does both, passenger only does passenger door. yep and I am sure there is a motor on both doors but I am not taking the trim off to confirm! as an aside if you tinker with the boot lock (I can't rmember why it was off) it can take a bit of lock/unlock combo to reset teh ala...

Re: bleeding rear brakes ABS
I tried the Haynes manual method, darn all difference. (local 'friendly' VOLVO ? they have gone down hill lately in my opinion) anyway with the bleed screw removed 5psi onto an adaptor on master cylinder, (from air line) wait a bit RESULT fluid piddling out :D Screws bleed screw back in, and...

bleeding rear brakes ABS
I put new rigid pipes and flexibles on the NEAR side (UK) 2.0 litre a few weeks back and all OK. now I did the OFF side and I can't get the pedal worth a **** !! I would normally use a 'quick' pedal action to push the air along the pipe but if we try this there is a 'woosh' noise and damn all fluid ...

Re: Volvo 480T goes Touring Car Racing
I know this is off topic but in similar vein to Glasgow Jim. try out-dragging ford Crapi Ghias at the lights with a Reliant Robin Van !!!! :D (stripped out not for racing just nothing inside it, well actually it had only one seat and NO trim as it was a 'work-in-progress' ) by the third set of light...

Re: Headlights problem
I had an issue where the LEFT light would NOT pop up although the RIGHT one did. (RIGHT HAND DRIVE) The problem was the small warning in dash that warned you that you were on 'full beam' the bulb was OK just a faulty connector between the dashboard and the loom, two plugs grey & green on back of ins...

Re: Now breaking a 1996 480 celebration.
Is the 'switch' part of the ignition assembly still avail or has it gone to breakers?
The car has not spun over on one occassion, so might be switch or might be starter. I have hot wired the starter so remote starting from engine bay is possible but a new switch would keep SWAMBO happier!!

Re: Replacing clutch - can't get starter motor out
It can be done WITHOUT a hoist, tricky but possible if you get the car high enough on ramps and a couple of scissor jacks, one for gear-box and one under the sump (large section of 20mm ply to spead load) I actually held up the gearbox with a section of 2" angle iron across from rear sub frame to fr...

Re: Whining noise
Yep ours squealled in the morning (and I guess when wife left work) and I always blamed fan belt. I would REALLY suggest get it looked at otherwise could be a top end overhaul, (though I think the valves and pistons don't meet on these engines?? :-) ) I ran it tho for longer than I should have, mila...

This bolts to the back of the hub an if it is the part I think it is the bolts that hold it in place are SPECIAL fine thread.

Re: Whining noise
But to remove belt tensioner will require removal of timing cover, and 'possible' loss of timing, not waht you wan tto do unless fairly sure of what is happening. The 480 timing marks are also a bit obscure!! the mark does NOT line up with the pully key way. or need to check that the 8mm long rod DO...

Re: What is the correct wheel bearing - advice needed
Jim Can you actually SEE the bearing or are you trying to get the part BEFORE rip wheel off? If it is a rear wheel bearing the disc/hub comes away VERY easily and you can pull the hub in about thrty minutes start to finish the nut is NOT that tight! If you have the bearing in your hand, check the num...

Re: Whining noise
Rachel Does it sound like a clutch squeal/ fan belt?? I had this for about four months (maybe longer) I removed the alternator drive belt to confirm my suspisions that it was timing belt related, turned out one of the idler pullies was on its last legs!!! :-( I can't remember if the fixed one or the...

Re: hit a snag in cambelt change
probably too late but you only need to 'lock' the engin eto stop it moving when putting th etiming belt on. If you are lucky then there are three or four white marks on teh tB that line up with the various pullies. DO NOT USE THE pin to lock engine if undoing front nut (or tightening up) stick the c...

Re: no spark on a 1989 ES
Just athought I had an intermittant fault when teh 480 wpuld sometimes fail to start. try checking the pick up on teh flywheel that senses teh crankshaft position. the connector is located just above gear box and sometimes works loose, as it moves aboyut a fair bit, even unplug it an d shove it back...

Re: car high idle
I know this is an old thread but I discovered that the bracket for the idle valve is drilled through into the manifold!!
I had a similar problem after an engine re-build. AIR was leaking and I had only haldf put the bts back on to check it would run.
yep it ran but at a fierce revs!
