There is a Volvo sport/handling pack for sale from my car. Lowers the car a little but not much, depending on the sagginess of your existing springs. It's the complete kit including the panhard rod. Unfortunatly the salt/molasses stuff (I'll blame that for the rust as well) has rusted the rear dampe...

Interested, yes.

I may be able to dig up the parts required to be sent off, but I'm not too close.

The 480 brakes being crap... I have driven 480s with utterly horrible brakes, but mine seem to work fine. Maybe cheap aftermarket parts? I have no idea.

Since our cars have a knock sensor, there will be some benifit from using higher octane fuel. Even with a standard car. Also using 92 octane fuel, won't kill the engine, but will hurt performance.

Anything above 97 is overkill for a standard car.

Re: What sensor is this ?

Rememebr to type slowly as you are talking to a reetard but good on a banjo>>>> :) The sensor with the single spade you are talking about is the coolant temperature sensor for humans. It feeds the Infocenter or gauge on the dash. The ECU sensor is the one near sparkplug No1 (clutch end), and...

Sounds like something is warped. Use a straight edge and feeler gauge to check the head and block for warping. You can return the clearances to specification by lapping the head /and / or / block with a nice flat oil stone, and plenty of oil. I would silicone the oil and water pasages (hindsight is ...

Thanks for your comments Rich. T3 is more than i'm after really. I just want a wider power band. Going to have a go at getting another t25, but this time be a little more careful. If the hybrid runs well enough i might not bother. The T3 is a bit laggy too, the supercharger helps here, without it (...

As far as power goes, it depends on how much cash you have to spend. My 80ukp ecu mod will up the power by about 50 bhp. Others have done simalar things to the ECUs. I can do things like fit a 3 bar map sensor, and bigger injectors. You want a bigger turbo for this, and that will get you almost doub...

This is a failed transistor in the fuel ECU. Or the wire to the ECU from the injectors is earthed somehow. The injectors will stay open all the time and flood the engine with fuel. The transistor can be changed. The actual transistor in the ECU is a darlington pair, with an HFE of 1500 and current c...

Also the exhaust backpressure is an issue. The important pressure diff is that between the exhaust port and intake port. The bigger turbine nozzel will result in less backpressure for the same gas flow, so will allow more air to flow through the engine. The bigger turbo will make more power than the...

Looks very promising. Although the price is a bit steep.
It would fit the ECU ok, but unfortunatly the map locations are not going to be the same.

I would think the maker could adjust it to fit the 480 if they wanted to.

Glad you are happy. It's nice to see :) Having put quite a bit of time into all this stuff, it's that, that makes it worthwhile, rather than anything else. I have had a quick look at the thread where someone has a go at me. Superchips would have charged you 500 quid or so, and given about 25 bhp ext...

So again i constructed my special downpipe removal tool, consisting of 1/4" ratchet connected to 1/4" screwdriver handle (which acts as an extra long extension), connected to long extension, connected to short extension, connected to uj, connected to 14mm socket. Lots of other fun too, like access ...

Millers 15-60 fully synthetic's pretty pricey ;) If that is what you're using, Richard, then how long does it last you? (Assuming you still use the old 'waiting for the mark on the dipstick to disappear' method). That's the stuff, and it isn't cheap. I would not suggest using it in a standard engin...

I would have to say stick with a recirc type. The audi upgrade type is better built, and will take more boost as mentioned above. Having tried both, there is no change when replacing a working standard part with the Audi one. The only time it will improve things is if your standard recirc is not wor...

Thanks for the tip. Will check it out and replace it if needed. I still hope it is just some dirt or something like that. It could be a dirty contact, but the switches are a known weak point. What is the critical temperature anyway? My other car is aircooled, oil temperatures between 120°C and 1...

The thermostatic switch is in the radiator, on the gearbox end, about 1/2 way down from the top. Access is a little tricky with the radiator in the car, but is possible. You may need to pull the radiator forward to get a spanner to the nut, unless you have a deep socket. Depending on the year of the...
