Re: brakes loosing pressure.

Hi,
I can't fell any sponginess. There's however, a little slack on the pedal. I mean there is a (very) little distance that the pedal descends without engaging the brakes.
Hope it helps

Re: Replcing maf

Hi, Replaced the thing finally. While the engine was cold, I behaved ok. but then it started to hiccup. After fully warm, it misfired noticeably. I felt a smell kinda "sweet". Tried readjusting the screw. But did not seem to make effect. Seems the unit does not work correctly. Anyway, thanks for you...

Re: brakes loosing pressure.

HI, Yep! It's still working. I'm in no way an expert on that breaking system. But I believe that the symptom of a leak in the accumulator is: When you have ignition key in pos. II (engine does not need to be running) after the braking system is pressurized, wait some minutes. If the pump kicks in I ...

Re: Most likely to clonk?

Hi, I was going to suggest exactly the exhaust. When the rubber supports were perishing in mine it made a sound similar to worn shock absorber. I tried shaking it by hand. I grabbed the tip of the exhaust and shoke it. It turn out to be the the rubber suports. You can also visually inspect it, it's ...

Re: Replcing maf

Hi Robou, Thanks for the help. I'm not interested in the resistance it self. My original post is rather confusing, I agree. The basic point is this: On the original MAF the pins 1-2-3 are shorted together on the new pin 1 and 2 are shorted together but pin 3 is not. I only put the resistance values ...

Re: Replcing maf

Finally I found some info,

looking at here http://www.freewebs.com/hjkort/480ecus.htm in the "connections" section, it seems that pin 3 is not ignored.
Furthermore it looks like the pin 5 and 3 are not interchangeable.
Too bad...
If anyone has further info, please let me know ;)
Thanks

Replcing maf

Hi, I'm about to replace the maf of one of the 400's. well, it's actually 460 turbo from 91. but being very similar to the 480 (at least the engine it's the same as my 480 turbo) I believe I guys can help. I bought a maf to replace the old one with the equivalent to bosh number 0280212021. The thing...

Re: Car shacking when pushed

Hi I did not have any time nor availbility to be without car since my last post. So I've been delaying my trip to the garage. However, the problem has dissapeared in the mean time. So, maybe it was the disc that was contaminated as you guys said. Any way I'll keep an eye on how it behaves for the ne...

Re: Car shacking when pushed

Thanks for both your answers. If its contaminated as you say, will it autoclean itself as I drive? I'm assuming that the seal is not leaking as this was one of the reasons why i took it to the mechanic. If it has to be clean, does the hole gearbox has to come out again? Or is there any way to clean i...

Car shacking when pushed

Greetings, I'm having an issue which is starting to worry me more and more. It all started when I sent the car to the mechanic to replace leaking crankshaft oilseals. I took the opportunity to also ask to replace the other seals that were on it's way out, transmission oil wishbones's bushings etc. S...

brake noise

Greetings, My rear left brake makes a noise like a shopping cart when driving on bumpy roads. It's more like a can of beans rumbling through the street  . When the brakes are applied the sound stops . Either with foot brake or handbrake. Can this be due to the anti-rattle spring thing on the ca...

Re: Turbo meter wont' go pass halfway.

Hi! That's normal on all the 480 turbos. The gauge measures around +1bar at the end of the yellow mark. However the turbo produces around 0.46 bar i believe. This in a standard non tuned turbo :D . I believe the reason why the the gauge goes to 1bar is because originaly the turbo was intended to pro...

Re: Hissing VEM!

Hi James.
I had the same issue about a month ago. In my case it was the VEM that was at fault. One of those solenoids that redirect the vacuum was leaking.
I ended to swap the VEM as mine had the fan tracks burnt also.

Re: shocks

There are not many options when it comes to upgrade. Bilstein are are an improvement over standard ( I hear). However there are som issues with the rear ones. Koni would be the best ones. But they are not being produced anymore and pvf does not have them in stock. This link has some shocks info for ...

broke my pcv

Hi all,
the crankcase breather valve (the one surrounded by that foam cylinder near spark plug #1) in my 91 turbo is broken :cryhard: .
Tried volvo and some scrapyards but no luck.
Does anyone know of a good replacement for this?
cheers
