It does look very nice, I have to admit. Happier now I can see it better and it has an MOT!!
More realistic on the price front, too...
Anyone on here taken with it??

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!
Welcome to 480 ownership! You have certainly taken the plunge here... Clearly this 480 has suffered neglect for a long time, but equally cars far more gone than this one have been renovated (generally I mean, not necessarily 480s). On what you say and I can see, I wouldn't say it was beyond rescue. ...

Don't think of it as "sacrifice" - think of it as "organ donation" and suddenly it seems less sad!!Jay-Kay-Em wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 8:29 pmThis noble 440 sacrificed its undeployed seatbelt pre-tensioners for me

Re: My 480 GT
Overall Phil, looks lovely - and you sound to be pleased with her, which is the main thing :D . It's lovely to see yet another GT safely in the fold, and it makes a change for it to be red rather than green! Nothing on your list of faults sounds horrendous or unusual for a 480. If it were me I'd get...

Re: A Sorry Looking Celebration (Given a Lifeline as R2!)
Now that Pud has gone to to dc's Pamper Parlour under his own steam he has a new thread under Pud the Celebration so his story continues on there. DC is old school, all transport is female 😄 Our first successfully completed rescue! Well done to all concerned. I know D C will look after Pud and when...

Re: Pud the Celebration - previously known as R2...
Thanks Colin Yes, the NS cover is something like the earlier smoke grey - as you say, the reflections hide it well in the photos!! I have the original but cover has separated from the frame it sits on. I am looking at either repairing that or else I'll just re-paint the odd one. A lot will depend on...

Love how he say its not in bad nick but fails to show the front stoved in! haha It's in good nick as long as you have your eyes tightly closed as you approach it... I wonder if he knows the inside isn't supposed to look like that ;) I noticed the first 440 he mentions - looks the same blue as...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto
He is home! :hopping: I, however, have 0.49p left in my bank at present after this little six month holiday he's just taken. So, the pressure switch was the ABS issue, I'm told. It's had two new rear callipers and all brakes off and cleaned/checked. Bit of a service: New fuel filter, oil filter and...

Re: Pud the Celebration - previously known as R2...
After stripping out the back end of the Pud as per yesterday's photos, today involved putting it back together again. Whilst at it, I raided the precious spares to ensure that the seatbelt arms which both sides looked like this: https://i.postimg.cc/Jzfsn2pg/20201108-124039.jpg now both look like th...

Wow David, your not shy of taking on a job are you! I'm sure you have it looking ship shape in no time. I have the same issue with my light not closing flush, it always bugged me but I think it looks worse when it closes too far. I've had a breif look at doing it when I first got it but couldn't wo...

Re: Next meeting
Might do a whole weekend one to ease the pain of the covid gap ! Given that there is always a handful of us staying over anyway unless a particular meet happens to be close to home for us, it would be really good to widen the area covered and do a whole weekend. People could join as and when they c...

Re: Returning member and owner
Welcome back, Phil :D Good to see that the irrefutable little law that reads " once a 480 owner, sooner or later a 480 owner again " is still alive and well! Given your reference to the bodged rear side reflector, I take it yours is the red GT that was on ebay? Well done on your purchase and enjoy: ...

Re: The bridge in fuse position 23
Not sure whether the early cars had the bridge...be interesting to know if yours has it?
Obviously this is 480 electrics we are talking about, so it's only one possible explanation for electrical madness

The bridge in fuse position 23
I am unsure whether this applies to the earlier models, but it is certainly relevant to 1991 and onwards. In the fuse-box, at position 23, you will find a slightly odd looking item - it resembles a fuse, but sits a bit proud and has much thinner prongs on it. It's the orange item in this (sorry, rat...

Lots of silly little things done too - quick successes that convince you you're making progress. That includes using these three items from my spares: https://i.postimg.cc/7LLqqMkc/20201105-135753.jpg Glove box pin - so that's no longer flapping in the breeze! Bonnet release knob - much easier than ...

Re: Pud the Celebration - previously known as R2...
Next up, some further in-depth cleaning. I washed Pud today, and broke Rule No 1 of taking on a new 480. That Rule reads " unless and until you know otherwise, assume the back end of your 480 will leak like a sieve, so be ready with towels etc" I merrily waded in, spraying loads of water every...

Pud the Celebration - previously known as R2...
As you know from the previous thread that was running about the sorry-looking Celebration that became "Rescue 2", Pud, as she is now known for obvious reasons, has moved from the Sanctuary to the Pamper Parlour. Over the last couple of days I have made start where Jeff left off. First thing to sort ...

Re: Here we go again...
Has anyone popped up there to actually take a look at it? Cause with a list of issues that long (and mould visible in the photos) id imagine any seller would have a hard time justifying the price. the seller is on a totally different planet to the rest of us.... As evidenced by the fact this...
