Forum niggles

Can anyone tell me why my computer might fail to remember my login details for this site? I tick the 'Remember Me' box every time I sign in but it nevers does - I have to login every time I visit. I am a member of a few other (very similar in layout and appearance) forums and they all seem to rememb...

White 480 on Winfrith Site, Dorset

Just looked out of the works kitchen window and spotted a white 480 in the car park opposite.

Too far away to get any more detail, but if you are on the Winfrith site you know who you are!

Door Key Lights

Am I right in thinking that the drivers door keyhole should light up if I lift the door handle when the car is locked? If I am right, then this feature doesn't work on my car and I guess I have one of the following: - Blown Bulb - Dodgy switch - Fuse? (I would have thought other stuff wouldn't work ...

Two in Dorchester

Spotted two inside of 15 minutes in Dorchester today.

One metallic green on Weymouth Avenue at 2.30ish, parkeing next to the market buildings.

The second a faded red G plate ES in the Stationmasters Pub car park between 2.45 and 4pm.

Anyone here?

Two more in Dorset (almost)

Saw two more 480s on the A338 between Ringwood and Salisbury yesterday. Both heading south at around 4-4.30. One white and one black. Didn't get much more info than that.

Thanks Martin. I have no real problem with the brakes as they are, I just thought if I was replacing them it might make sense to upgrade them a bit. I will have a go at getting the calipers off (although from other threads it appears this may not be as easy as it sounds) and having a look. Looking t...

Bit of braking advice needed

Following on from an earlier post here: http://volvo480.dragons.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15867 I have been doing a bit of research into brakes and am wondering if I am going OTT wanting to upgrade to grooved BlackDiamond discs and pads etc. I don't intend to ever take the car on a track and on t...

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the euro performance site - it is great. They have some nice brake parts on there - I costed an ideal set up to £255 for new discs and pads all round.

Not cheap, but if I can have a go a doing some or all of the work myself it won't be too bad.

Thinking Ahead

Got some good news at the weekend. My dad retires soon and so I was offered Mum's little fiesta as a runaround. I said I would love it if I had a drive so that I could stop using the 480 as a daily driver. Mum then said, well you can keep it on our drive for as long as you want. Great! So, in a few ...

Wet Boot

I am annoyed. Spent the Easter weekend in Exmouth - the car sat for four days without moving and was subject to some pretty horrid weather. I have just noticed that the bootliner is soaking wet. It was damp when I got the car, but I dried it out and it stayed dry for a good three weeks, but the bad ...

Well my plans to get the lights fitted tok a little longer than planned. I finally fitted them at lunchtime in the car park - I got a few odd looks from people in my building! Anyway, it was a nice easy job to do and the car now looks much better. I also had a quick go a T-Cutting one of the rear cl...

Dorset Meet

Would anyone be interested in a meet in Dorset?

Nothing much seems to happen down here, so I thought I would take the initiative and try to organise something myself. I know a few good pubs in the area, and may even be able to lay on something like a treasure hunt if anyone is interested?

I didn't really get involved with the IAM to reduce my insurance premiums - more because I was just interested in driving and wanted to improve my own driving. Without wanting to sound big-headed, I think I was a reasonably capable driver beforehand - my driving instructor was an ex-police driver an...

Paranoid

I thought my car was fine until today when someone said the engine sounded really rattly and poorly. It does rattle a bit - are all 2 litre 480s like this or is mine worse than most? It sounds like this at idle: http://media.putfile.com/480-Engine Also, I have noticed if I put my foot down I get a c...

Workshop manuals

Anyone had any experience with these:

Just wondering if they are worth buying instead of a Haynes manual or not?

Cheers

Red M plate

Spotted a red M plate 480 in Blandford, Dorset, just leaving the bypass towards Tesco on Saturday afternoon.

First 480 I have seen in the area since I got mine.
