Popped it in the vice and gave it a sharp twist. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/71517484d9139231a86c90d30fe5ee962c51a4cf18...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Rear brake caliper carriers finally removed. These are the worst I have come across and none of my usual tricks worked. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/1377366011396928901841946a551500b569327a35c07b05bc5012503886405c9fc51195.jpg https://serving.photos.photobox.com/9404300273a8a8e004f432f35e4475a...

Re: Blinky 51/480

I have some 4ft planks that I use as a run on. Just cut the end at a suitable angle and use a couple to drive over which keeps the car clear of the lift.

Re: Blinky 51/480

I forgot to add, the lift is operated via hydraulics which runs off of 240v ac pump.

Goes up in seconds.

Re: Blinky 51/480

The aftermarket parts for landrovers arent what they should be, I have taken brand new lamps out of the packet and the break in my hands. You dont mind paying a fair price for parts but the market is saturated with junk it is frustrating. The picture is the brake and fuel pipes hanging down, I pulle...

Re: Blinky 51/480

The defender jet you fitted have a tendance to break at the base particularly when cold. I had to replace the one on my defender other wise you can squirt the car behind. you might be lucky with them sheltered belong the bonnet. Neat solution though. Tbe little twin jets are from a Discovery 1. I ha...

Re: Blinky 51/480

This afternoons work was supposed to be renewing the brake pipes but the under side needed a good wire brush as I would hate to leave rust under a nice new pipe. Whilst I had the grinder out I decided to hit the rear axle, what a mess that made. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/561428360cfc14f1b8...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Managed to trim some washers to make retaining rings for the guide pin boots. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/77461344a69d0729d26ed92b6d949cfe67ed02fe4b04793a4a9275c7d9c1c63c840b5a64.jpg And gave the carriers a lick of paint. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/12006904880025f7e29dd5f6e591289fc4...

Re: Blinky 51/480

The front jet broke when I leaned against it yesterday. The other LR jet is too long as it comes but could be trimmed down to clear the bonnet. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/64160640a3ed5a8cbf748c6a64dac20dbc7d38a8dfe1bfbf004b910f72db1f78a8de18d8.jpg I will fit a pair of the short jets, I trie...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Bolted the LR jet to the base of the volvo bit and used epoxy putty to build it up. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/7570358237eec20d4e373e0f7846a92c19be8a1e6b846b2181a651216f053cf56dff120c.jpg https://serving.photos.photobox.com/256557273859711b8b3b3d4ad03fba840d0aa3d25b61c03b81508eeeec38b1f1014...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Spent a bit of time on the car this morning. Rear washer jet got some attention. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/514300492f3f05a562a261b9e1ff3e021c8296d7641bb29c48760c1311d9ff5118c247c0.jpg https://serving.photos.photobox.com/126779401dfc441c945f0e688d7d3d277ea73e6971f81b61983db3e5ea70559f553b86...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Thanks Jim, I thought I was going mad but have found the VSS and the loom plug so can probe it tomorrow. I know that both the starter and clutch were done at some point so hopefully they didnt damage the sensor in the process. Got to say that this is one of the reasons I am not a fan of Renault, onc...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Also even more confused with regards to the VSS location. I have looked and looked and there is no sensor. I have two theories, 1st is that it doesnt have one and the speedo is determined via one of the ABS sensors (most likely the now broken one). The 2nd theory is that it has been removed for what...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Cheers Robert, It is a little bit distracting but then I have other cars which is hard to tell if the symbol is on or off. Todays work involved removing the left hand drive shaft to replace the inner boot which was leaking. I really wish I hadnt followed the haynes manual as it said to remove the AB...

Re: Blinky 51/480

This is a little spooky, I bought a speedo sensor for my brothers clio a couple of years ago when his speedo stopped working. It has been lying about ever since (his clio took speedo from the abs sensor and didnt have a speedo sensor, and his speedo stopped working when he fitted a stereo that had a...

Glad you said that, It looks like I was probing the Reverse switch by the look of it DOH. Back to it tomorrow.

Re: Blinky 51/480

Further investigations on the speedo. I pulled the dash out to check I had put the the cables back on correctly (I had done). Whilst I had the dash out again I took out the full beam bulb and painted it blue. I found that the blue was faded making the symbol appear white. EDIT to post: I was testing...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Sorted with relays, once I got the part numbers I ordered a couple of new ones. I think it is always worth posting part numbers as it could help someone else. When I searched the forum I found some reference to the relays but no part numbers. Spent the afternoon replacing a CV boot, which was an adv...

Just in case anyone stumbles across this post with the same issue the part numbers for the co...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Will put the lamps on the wish list for when I get the other jobs sorted out. The supplier had a problem with the drivers side caliper so I have to send mine off, plenty of passenger sides available bit not the drivers front. odd. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/3364444902f9012d428cb3c628eea3694...
