Worse fuel consumption

Now that the odometer and computer still work for the first time since September I have calculated my fuel consumption. I emptied one tank with 8l/100 (37mpg) which is substantially above my normal average and which I expected would be about 7.5l/100 (38mpg). Now that I refueled and reset the comput...

Going downhill on a German Autobahn I floored it. The needle went off the scale, resetting avg speed on the computer showed 213km/h (132mph). Then a van changed lane and I had to brake hard.
Under normal conditions it will do 195km/u (121mph).

The steering wheel is adjustable too. But maybe your feeling is caused by the pedal lay out? I can imagine on a rhd model the pedals moved more to the center of the car because of the right front wheel, so your seating position maybe a little cramped?

A 480 specialist told me the problem is caused by the connection from the pins to the print. I have made a wire from the pcb to the wires at the back of the dash. It's been working ok for 2 or 3 weeks now.

I've had a 480 before, years ago. It was replaced by a great car no doubt. But yes I always felt I wanted one back. Because of the looks, because of the great seats, because of the road holding and handling, because of the stupid little trunk and the rear window wiper. When I make a two hour drive I...

You need to give model year info and particularly the colours of the connectors at the back are important. They are not interchangeable.

I've read your problems and it's the same story as mine

kinkersaab, consider moving to Switzerland or Italy, where they do have micro front license plates. Or California, no front license plate needed.

While I was out for work tonight the speedo started acting up seriously. The needle literally was dancing. Then the thing collapsed. Only when pressing continuous on the Plexiglas cover it would work. Not very suitable for driving. Also very inconvenient because I have to declare my mileage. At home...

My fuel economy is highly dependent on in city or outside city driving. In the country, freeway, it will easily do 14km/l (39.5mpg). But my work takes me into residential areas and I see the AVG go up. In the end I may end up with 12,5-13km/l (35mpg). That **** avg meter shows exactly the huge influ...

I feared not being up to the job and had the rubbers replaced by the workshop. Together with a service and yearly safety check -equivalent to the mot- this set me back quite a lot of money. But I'm street legal for another year.

Next on schedule is the time belt, it's 6 years old in 2008.

I've put a piece of Styrofoam at the back of the connector to press it into place but this makes no difference. I still have to "push the speedo on" from a cold start. So next will be bridging the blue connector.

Trust me guys! I take it that the speedo works ok for a while when you put it all back together again? Do you see what I mean about the clips on the two connectors on the back of the instrument cluster? Next time you go for a drive push the whole unit back in to the dash and if the speedo works whe...

A reason why a convertible 480 never went on sale except for being plain ugly (just my pov) is that the torsion rigidity of the 480 is not so good. There's to much movement in the body even on a closed car. Cutting the roof just would be to much. There's no way to compensate without adding an extra ...

Soldered the blue connector, it worked fine, made a testdrive and it collapsed again. Soldered again and an extra cable to make electronic measurements. It works, still works today. Nothing much to measure from the cable though. I think the blue connector had bad tin and maybe a bad path on the pcb....

Driving at night, with the lights raised gives me a special feeling. The distance to the lights, and that you can see at them, which you can't with flush fitted lights.
I don't like to turn them on in the daylight except for greeting someone.

Hello mate, I had the same problem with my 95' celeb. Actually when I got the car the speedo hadn't worked for about two years and that was the third info cluster that had been fitted under warranty by Volvo! I resoldered all the joins on the circuitboards in the instrument cluster and everything w...
