Re: Does anyone have some pop up headlight hinges?

Send me your address, a very kind 480 driver who's moving house and needed to get rid of stuff has given me a four of these headlight hinges to share amongst the needy!

Postage won't be Skandix-priced: 6 Euro.

Re: Dendy's 480 Diary

- Both windows not working I had such a case last Friday. Was a car which was sitting outside and rarely used where the driver door window stopped working. Found out that both window regulators were fine, switchgear was fine (swapped cables), turned out it had a faulty connection inside the door. P...

Re: From Norfolk to North Wales - SJ's 480S

Come to think of it even after I brimmed the tank the fuel gauge was only showing about three quarters. Could that and an under reading temp gauge suggest a volt drop to the gauges? I have worked on a car with gauges instead of infocentre yesterday. Could not get anything working. Resorting to chan...

Re: Rescue car: R6 - our first GT

How did you get the washer bottle out and how did you clean it? I have to replace mine with one that accepts the headlight washer pump (and subsequently fit headlight washer jets), but I'm struggling to get the old (smaller) one out.
Could start with giving the bigger washer bottle a clean :)

No, there are plenty available, but at vastly inflated prices. There is a large batch which changed hands several times, asking prices are now around 10 pound each.

Re: Aircon Regas

After having my aircon regassed twice, I've decided it had to be fixed, because R134a refrigerant is a very powerful greenhouse gas. So I took it to my trusted Volvo specialist, who managed to find a second hand (but like new) aircon condensor. We had to work on the car for a day, every pipe, every ...

Re: Rescue car: R6 - our first GT

Thank you Robert !! Ace as usual. In fact it was another person with the same first name who should be thanked. :) Last Sunday I've got a phone call by an elderly man, who told me he has sold his house, will be moving to France in 3 weeks and needed 3 boxes of Volvo 480 parts to go, so he decided t...

Sadly you won’t get these from a 1989 car. You need something after about 1992 I think.
Model years 1994 and 1995 only, but they were the only ones left as a replacement, so many have been retrofitted to older cars.

Re: 1989 Grey being dismantled

Doesn't matter, roof hasn't changed throughout production. If your car is later than the donor, it will fit and the wiring is already present. You need to preserve everything from the roof, including the headliner.

Re: From Norfolk to North Wales - SJ's 480S

Regarding the CEM, a member of the Dutch 480 community has recently passed away and his ex-wife (who also drove 480) brought a large box of instrument clusters, ECUs and CEMs which used to belong to him, which I will pass on to those in need of a CEM. Ben already got one (which subsequently fixed hi...

Re: Unknown paint colour

The paint code is on the identification plate under the bonnet, "6" in this picture: https://www.volvo480register.nl/wp-content/uploads/identif.jpg The rightmost column, under "Made in The Netherlands", shows code of country where the car was produced for (probably 15 = UK), then colour code (3 digi...

My brain always connects the U to Unexpected. So either I will bring those or send th...

Re: Rescue Car: R4 - our first turbo rescue !

Given the Covid situation is still VERY fluid at the moment I don't know if it's possible to attend FOTU on July 31 and stay at Jeff's. If I'm going it will be by Eurostar train (direct connection between Rotterdam and London for €100) which allows me to take a large amount of stuff without stupid s...

Anybody know what it's like to get parcels from France? Th rear light covers/clusters on my 480 are shot so I need to buy the French replacements (assuming they're still available). However, I'm not sure of the state of play when it comes to importing goods from the EU. Any advice? It is all here: ...
