Re: 480 Wheels = controversy!

I have come to realise that I was wrong about the Castor, it is now my 4th favourite, as I have remembered the wheel I had in mind was actually the Columbia wheel. This was used on 480s and can be seen in the crash test footage, it is also the wheel I saw on that barn-find car once that made such an...

Re: Yellow Lights

Haha, yes the White Dwarfs on Audis are particularly dangerous, especially with a low car with a glass tailgate!! My headlights are out of alignment anyway so I can't really see much, though they do pickup the all important eyeshine, and yes the main beams are extraordinary. I have always preferred ...

Re: Yellow Lights

So what are these exactly? Are they like French deep good yellow lights (never been a fan) or are they more subtle. Now you have pointed them out, they do look similar to mine which have a yellowish tint, but doubt they are the same

Re: Headlight stopping low

Wind the knob on the back of the motor That doesn't help if the alignment is out. One of my lights is a little low, and doesn't close flush. For the purposes of a car show, turning the knob will make it look good, but as soon as you flip the lights it will reset and go low again. To adjust it prope...

Oh James this is shaping up to be one of the best out there, another case of something 'not looking too bad' but when seeing the ongoing transformation what a difference it makes. Didn't realise the sunroof was that early... Thank you. You are right to question the sunroof. What you usually see on ...

This is amazing to see, the quality of the work carried out on a seemingly small budget speaks to the dedication and passion of this community - and of course the hard work and skill of those giving time to this project

Re: Rescue Car: R3

Another excellent slog there Jeff, glad I could play my part. Interesting to note that my car is a September 1988 (possibly August build date I don't know what the lead time was) which is a few months later than R3 and closer to R1, especially given Arctic Blue was introduced for that model year (r...

Re: Big Car video on the 400 series + interview with Steve Harper

See I’d disagree; it’s all about the “story” and less about the restoration as they feel they have to appeal to ordinary people. Me? I’d love to find out about the various cottage industries they use (usually when Tim is “robbing parts/sticking a “rush job” through). Go watch project binky - stunni...

Re: Big Car video on the 400 series + interview with Steve Harper

I quit my TV licence last year and only watch on-demand services. There is a seismic shift going on right now with the TV Licence and YouTube is getting better and better. Did this nearly 20 years ago! All the decent car stuff is on the tube; in general you’ve not got a production company going “oo...

With John De Vries too? Fight! Fight!
I did notice JDV wasn't mentioned all that much, the British input to the car was more substantial than I thought, but then if Harper was more involved with the final touching up of JDVs design that would make sense🤔

Re: 480 Wheels = controversy!

I agree with you James - they look ok-ish on a pre-facelift 460, but on a 480 that just doesn't work. David I disagree, I think they look brilliant, but only with certain combinations. This car also being from the black rubbing strip era certainly doesn't help... each to their own... Haha, my...
