I follow the label stuck on the inside edge of the drivers doors, and add a bit more in the colder weather to allow for the resultant drop in pressure. Still go through some tyres though!

As for pumping excessively....I've had no complaints ;)

After I changed the dizzy cap and hts recently I had the ABS light on permenantly. One of the connections for the ABS pump is just behind and under the air filter housing. Easy to knock and disconnect. Might be worth a quick look.

Simon

I had this problem. Turned out it was a bad earth on the fan. The earth point is up behind the glove box. Try the simple things first - as the wife says!

Gotta go with Ally on this one. Came back to the car in a car park to find the long range lens lying on the deck. I thought I'd heard something when I shut the door on the way out, but I'm fairly used to odd noises from the 480 by now!

Pretty obvious but often neglected - check your tyre pressures. Cold weather = low pressure = bigger footprint = more fuel.

Mixed urban and motorways, generally around the 34-36mpg mark. Fairly respectable.

 Been there. Done that. When I first got the beastie I had the front nearside blow out on the dual carriageway doing about 70  - very exciting it was too. Anyway, out comes the jack which is totally rusted up due to there being a small pond sloshing around in the boot. That piddly little...

Same colour as mine according to the VIN plate. When I had some mixed up in Halfrauds he said it was Lavender - I thought he was taking the mick, as it's obviously a very masculine steel grey metallic!!!

I have the ultimate solution.

Let the beastie rust to buggery and then run along like the Flintstones!

Shortly it'll be the only way I could afford to travel!
