Re: rear bumper bolts

I use bolt grips, https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=bolt+grip&oq=bolt+grip&aqs=chrome..69i57.3209j0j7&client=ms-android-motorola&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#lbl=OVERVIEW&pie=plaji-i worth a try, always been frightened of breaking 'stud extractors' in the bolt hole but in this case if these brok...

Re: My 480 journey begins here

**Update** I've just checked again and they're working fine!?! We had particularly heavy rain last night? Anyway thanks for your help, I'm sure it will come in useful! They can have a mind of their own... Might still be worth checking that the relay is fully in place though and - given your comment...

Re: rear bumper bolts

Ive not set fire to them yet, in fact as I'm not actively a Gordan Ramsey fan I dont own a blow torch! This isn't my 480 which has already had it bumper 'repaired' but a tragic donor car, the owner would run out an extension lead for me so I have electrics if needed. Has anyone ever cut a bolt with...

Re: Wanted - 1987 Volvo 480

The asking price may be out of budget, but the seller seems to be quite oblivious to the current market prices. I would try and talk the price down to more reasonable levels. If the rear arches and rear bumper support are solid, I would say 2500 is a much more realistic price. If your budget doesn'...

Re: Celeb no 1 of 480 in desperate need...

That is a real shame, If anyone did feel brave I have a shell which could donate body panels for the job. Checking up on a Cat S. "A Cat S car is one which has sustained structural damage during a crash – think items such as chassis and suspension. While the car can safely be repaired and put back ...

Alan,I have to give you top marks for ingenuity. You always think outside of the box. just 'ticht', and I like to think that 'where there is a will, there's a way' , probably coming from a time when internet didn't exist and if you needed a part you had to source it from the dealer (at high price) ,...

Re: cannot find the immobiliser button

ours is a two litre 1993 ES but NOTHING like an immobliser fitted, maybe the later models (or more upmarket) had them? I assume key unlocks the car and engine turns but won't fire? or only doors unlock and nothing beyond that . .. . . . I had a sneaaking suspicion that the flashing red LED was linke...

Yes,you were right James,it was the throttle posistion sensor.Got a Bosch one off Ebay and changed it.The old one was full of oil which was probably the problem. Now engine running fine. Mine was similarily full!!!, I drilled a hole in the bottom to let the oil out!!! this is caused b...

Re: Celeb no 1 of 480 in desperate need...

I think with deformed boot floor and sides creased that needs to go in the bin and not back on the road. I see it had ‎a tow bar fitted which is probably why the damage is so bad. The forces would have been transferred to the boot floor rather than the bumper as intended by design. ‎ Sad, yes, but ...

It is in the L/H (driver's side in UK) footwell, in the upright outboard side panel. (It looks the same as the panel with the bonnet release in on the other side).

surely that's the RHS??

Re: 480ES dash electrical problem

regading this bit ###### 12v is supplied for a short period on ignition on and if you don't start then the 12v gets withdrawn (As you'd expect so pump isn't priming system indefinitely). That seems to be working as expected, so to me it suggests the ECU isn't toast. yep thats what ours does, short r...

Re: 480ES dash electrical problem

both of them are for 'fuel supply', tied together . . . .

the one nearest the centre of the car will deffo be supply oomph for the pump, if it is dead then NO fuel, you could pull the relay and confirm that the pump runs when ignition is turned on ?
