Re: Plastic bootliner on ebay

Console yourself with the fact that it won't fit in the boot with your cd changer in there..... ;) David Well there is that - and I use my CD Changer far too much for me to sacrifice it for a boot tray! Then again, apart from the remaining OS/R mudflap left to find, I have all the Volvo accessories...

Lights do not flash when headlights down. On my old 480 the long range lamps would flash if the headlights are down.
The first thing I'd check is that the long range lamps are actually on. The switch for them is next to the heated seat buttons.

is that the one at an eye watering £225 + 17.34 postage ??
That's the one. Absolutely ridiculous price even if it was a legitimate listing. Paid less than half that for mine last year.

Retractable roller cover eBay scam??

Hi everyone, just a heads up on the boot roller cover on eBay - the picture the seller is using in the listing is a photo I took of the roller cover fitted in my car.

Just a heads up as the listing looks quite dodgy.

The very early (up to MY 1989) and the late ones (MY 1993/1994) usually don't peel
My 1993 MY cluster has started to started to peel around the odometer area, but it’s relatively mild compared to some I’ve seen.

Re: Lanoguard - anyone used it as rustproofing?

I’ve used Lanoguard for the underside of mine. Easy to spray on and is like a coating of wax. I’ve found that dirt sticks to it easier, but thats obviously only on top of the waxed areas. I trust that it’s a good solution, but I’ve only had it on about a year. Haven’t noticed any rust forming, though.

WANTED: NS/R mudlfap & side pin stripes(?)

Hi all, Recently got a (almost) full set of mudflaps from a chap off of Facebook. Unfortunately I'm missing the Near side rear one and I have a duplicate off-side rear one. Wondering if anyone has one knocking about somewhere? A bit of a shot in the dark this one, but I don't suppose anyone has any ...

Re: Info & Pics of the Japanese market 480s!

Well, after doing a lot of digging, I have uncovered some more info. It turns out 300 cars were officially imported into Japan from 1989 to 1991, with a price of around 3.5 million yen, which equated to about £20,000 at the time. Of those 300 cars, 295 were LHD manuals and the remaining 5 were RHD A...

Re: Info & Pics of the Japanese market 480s!

Wow Adam, this is fantastic! I was always sure that at least some pictures existed on the Japanese side on the internet by never knew how to access that side as Google pumps the English web results first. Great to have a close-ish photo of the side indicators. They don’t look to be generic parts bin...

Re: Retractable rear cover

I just eye-balled it. When I did mine. Make sure that the rear seats are reclined all the way back before you drill holes and mount the thing. And as Sylvia said, use short screws as the seat belt rollers are just behind that plastic cladding. https://i.ibb.co/jTy4FJ0/4-ACEF263-0-A99-4-B9-B-B61-C-E1...

Re: Info & Pics of the Japanese market 480s!

Great detective work Will! I wonder if there's a Japanese equivalent of the DVLA with records that can be accessed? I’ve no idea - If there was I wouldn’t have a clue where to start, language barrier aside! I’d highly doubt any survive though. My guesstimate is that 480 sales in Japan were probably...

Info & Pics of the Japanese market 480s!

Evening all, A while back I made a post asking if anyone had any information on the mysterious Japanese market Volvo 480 models as there seemed to be next to nil information about them online. Martin63 was kind enough to send a PDF of an original brochure, but translating Japanese into English is qu...

Re: Heaters starting to sound dodgy

That roughly translates to “product review…..paint control card type 480”

My guess is that was left over from production at the factory, probably by accident. Especially seeing as that’s Dutch language.

Weren't these retained, just never connected? 😀

I have them on both my 1994 GT and ES
Yep, the lens/housing was retained, but was never wired up making it just a dummy.

Re: Coloured headlight surrounds

Painted headlight surrounds were standard on all models until 1989 when they were dropped in favour of black unpainted ones (due to cost-cutting by Volvo). Lots of other things were taken out of the cars such as the under-bonnet dome light, footwell courtesy lights and second rear fog light to name ...
