Re: R3 - yet another bus !

Having found out that the seller of R3 is a one man band bodyshop with the reputation of being an ace fabricator, I booked our Saab in for wheel arches. All that is available in the way of repair panels is the front end of the arch and ours is rusty both ends. Our usual bodyshop and our Saab repair ...

Re: A Sorry Looking Celebration (Given a Lifeline as R2!)

The news we've all been waiting for - Pud is now fully road legal and off to the Pamper Parlour tomorrow. The bodywork may still leave quite a lot to be desired, but the overall transformation is great - a huge thank you to Jeff and all the members who gave precious spares from their own stock. dc w...

Delighted to say that Jeff is now freed up to work on R1, bad weather and dark evenings permitting of course.

It's not that far from us, so if anyone is interested we'll happily go and have a look.

Re: Snazzy's story

Without wishing to be rude, ! am not totally sure about the interior - from the photos there is just something niggling me as not quite right, I think maybe the grey is a tad lighter than I would have gone for? Not sure...and I fully I expect that when I get to see it for real I will find it works ...

Re: Snazzy's story

oops, forgot to show you these: https://www.dragonflyjewel.co.uk/sylvia/20205.jpg The Norwich main dealers didn't bat an eyelid when I went round the showroom alternately photographing door sill and boot badge on every model. These days they are mostly designed to be inset in the sill so I was quite...

Re: Snazzy's story

The 'proper' two tone is Peacock green or Vase Green for the Dutch. It's almost turquoise so it does look blue in some light.

Re: Great 480 Advert

I've done a lot of digging for this advert, and not had much luck. Volvo don't have it in their online Press Release archive so I am waiting to hear back from the archive that posted it to Alamy. Apparently they have it filed under 1990s so unless that's a mistake it's a bit later than we thought.

Re: Snazzy's story

Snazzy came out of the bodyshop with a few issues for Mr Pedantic to fix - the trailing arms now have the handbrake cables clipped back onto them, the exhaust no longer vibrates on the body and the fuel now flows into the tank without interruption. Apparently there is a gadget at the bottom of the f...

Re: Affordable Celeb - Suffolk 89/480

This should be a sound investment. I have spoken to the previous owner who sold it in March. He bought it as a donor car for his immaculate celeb. but then found it far too good to break. The rear wheel arches were sound with just a small bit of rust bubbling at the top of one arch. Electrics all go...

Re: 1994 Volvo 480 Auction at Copart

O what a shame, looks like someone didn't mind the gap ! ! It's very short notice to get someone there to check out the wheel arches. Plus of course our hero Jeff doesn't do bodywork. Bad bits: - MoT history shows it's had corrosion problems round the suspension mounts and on the sills, and a new od...
