Thanks Jim,

Normally the solenoid is a separate box, with an arm that connects to one of the metal rods that operate the door mechanism.

But I wont have any of the screws or rods that connect it all up either!

Cheers for looking,

Hi Jim, I'm not sure... Just after the electronic mechanism from a passenger (uk) door. I haven't actually removed one before but am planning on fitting it to the drivers door to connect to an alarm, so whatever bits it needs to mechanically connect up would be needed. I'm not sure what else is diff...

You shouldn't need to remove the caliper to change the driveshaft. I suggest grinding off the stub axle > suspension strut bolts. This will be easy and is quite a satisfying fix! The sides of the stub axle are machined flat. Its fairly obvious to see when the bolt has had enough grinding. Not sure w...

Jim if I were you I'd call Volvo and order some new nuts and bolts for the strut. Maybe for the stub axle for good measure, and angle grind the old ones off.

Save yourself the stress. I've had to do that once.

 I was re-reading my post trying to work out if i'd made some kind of arachnid typo!

I like the pic anyway.

Haven't got any mud flaps or stripe kits or door solenoids then? ;)

WANTED: Black stripe tape

Hi, does anyone have the black stripes that go around the car, on the bumpers and side panels?

I think I saw someone advertise one a while back.

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure there is no sort of heat sensor in the motor. I'm going to try it and see. The foil had all come off of the shield anyway.

Thanks Ben, that sounds ideal. And it comes in an array of chavvy colours! Maybe I could wrap my whole engine in it?!

Well I have replaced the starter motor (now working and sounding like a new car), and have opted to not replace 2 of the 3 'heatshields' as they are in such an akward position. I'd rather have access to my starter motor and don't think the heat will be able to do much damage to it. I have left the d...

Well, that's better than nothing isn't it?!

So the lights obviously work anyway... And they should light up regardless of the switch position when flashing using the stalk.

My guess is a dodgy switch or stalk.

Try the switch on the centre console ;)

They only work with full beam and when the switch is on, or when the stalk is pulled in.

Alternative heat shields?

Hi, I have had the unfortunate task of removing my starter motor today. I forgot how much of an arse it it to remove all the little heat shields. Not very user friendly at all! I dont really want to put them back on! I was thinking I could just wrap the downpipe in some sort of insulating material. ...

Went to see a friend who has a barn, took the door off, scraped off all the paint and weld seal on th...
