Volvo 480 Club Europe

The Irish car mag Retro Rides has a two page buyers guide on the 480 this month. The car featured is a really tasty looking 91 Turbo, not sure if the owner is a member here or not (?).

Nice to see 480's getting a bit more coverage in magazines like this.

Yes for me I would take a sunroof over air con any day. In fact it used to really annoy me that my old Celeb had air con (never worked) instead of a sun roof!

Incidentally, did any 480's have a tilt-slide sunroof that could open all the way, instead of just tilt like on my ES?

I really regret selling my Celeb, despite all the trouble it gave me. It really lacked a sunroof though, agree with you there.

If I had the choice though, I'd rather a late Turbo than a Celeb or GT any day

I wouldn't mind getting back into ownership myself at some stage but it's a difficult enough time to find a 480 still running in Ireland. Moslo from Kilkenny has one on here (you will find it in the for sale section) but aside from that there is only one other very overpriced example for sale on adv...

Spotted in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin today, a maroon 1994 480 GT.

Good condition, but probably not driven in a while - tax disc dated back to 2009.

Probably the first time I have seen a 480 in Ireland in 3 - 4 years.

The 1.7 really was underpowered. And yes, when the cats came power was sometimes down to only 90hp or so. While the figures seem pretty much the same, the 2.0 has much more low down torque and does deliver the power the 1.7 does not have. The 2.0 is faster, drives more relaxed and is more economica...
