Re: POP up headlights replacement motor
It might not be the motor. Have a search on here for the Brinkie Winkie dance to see if you can revive them

Re: Heated seat wiring
I'd certainly give repair a go. I was lucky with one car and my repair to the thermostat lasted but not on this one, the wire is just too thin and brittle I guess. The break will likely just be on the bottom part and the thermostat can be reached with just the cover opened up, rather than full cover...

Re: Heated seat wiring
Also, it is nigh on guaranteed that the wires on the lower seat pad to the thermostat will be broken. I had mine out last week and attempted a repair, it lasted about two arse cheeks before coming out again. Will be attempting a cheapo eBay retrofit tomorrow as the 480 is doing another week of daily...

Re: Headlamps not parking properly
Didn’t Jeff discover recently that the rear wiper motor is the same as the headlight for motor? Could you bolt it on for troubleshooting purposes? Or did you nicely confirm it by swapping them left to right?

Re: Digital Clock Repair
Also highly recommend a fibreglass pencil for cleaning the pads https://www.amazon.co.uk/Proops-Brass-Fiberglass-Scratch-Postage/dp/B00IUGYADE Do you mean clean just the button pads? By the way, nice idea for a fix. Hope it works and I can repair my original. Will retire on the funds from selling t...

Re: Wanted: Headlamp washer jets
Hey Dave. I don’t have one but hopefully you will find one as they aren’t usually something that people need so every car being broken will have two! As you are working on the system, I’d recommend changing the splitter valve in the nose cone (which I think is a non-return too). They are still avail...

Re: Digital Clock Repair
Remember the car's that are meant to have the digital clock have four pins on the plug, not three like you analogue peasants.   On the plus side, us analogue peasants can easily tell the time...... One of the things I was looking at with Mr Dendy, was actually replacing all the g...

Digital Clock Repair
Does anyone have experience with repairing the digital clock? Mine only displays the time if I hold the left button down. Otherwise, it is illuminated but no display. It used to work. I re-flowed all its internal solder joints but night but with no luck. There could be a problem with the car's wirin...

Hello 480 friends, Is this rear bumper support still available? Can i contact with somebody? Yours Berry Hey, I'll send you a PM with his email address just incase he doesn't see this forum so often. Note, you will need to add some rivnuts to it and also you will loose the rear tow hook. Hi James, ...

Re: How to fashion a fix for the "clutch bulkhead breach"
Bollocks, just as I need the 480 for daily duties and decide to adjust the clutch, I realise my bulkhead is also cracked. Joining you in early-car nightmare club again! Sending you a PM. When you say "you need a new hole", did you open the bulkhead hole up to remove the damage, or did you just slide...

Re: Info & Pics of the Japanese market 480s!
Very interesting stuff.
There was that one that came up for breaking in Japan. No idea if it was a Japanese original though. Can't seem to find the post but the pictures, if still available, might show the sidemarkers. Had a quick at the parts catalogue I have and no mention of Japanese lights.

Re: Heaters starting to sound dodgy
I've noticed the floor on the passenger side has got all wet again, it's definitely water so I thought maybe it's the something to do with the fan? So I've pulled all the carpet up and it's soaked so I've pulled the drain plugs out to try drain the worse out and went about pulling all the underside...

Re: Heaters starting to sound dodgy
This wont let you fix it nicely and grease it but you might also find that there are leaves in it. You can go in with a vacuum from the engine bay and suck out some debris. Fan air inlet is on the UK passenger side, at the back, next to the wipers.

Re: Coloured headlight surrounds
Painted headlight surrounds were standard on all models until 1989 when they were dropped in favour of black unpainted ones (due to cost-cutting by Volvo). Lots of other things were taken out of the cars such as the under-bonnet dome light, footwell courtesy lights and second rear fog light to name...

Re: Window Regulator Cable Detached
Hello, I would like help on how to disassemble the piece that attaches to the glass (where there is the green plastic latch that usually breaks, I can't get it out of the track) and some advice on how to replace the latch with a new one more resistant metal. Are there any repair kits on the market?...
