Re: Spotted Alconbury : Black J-plate

this one by any chance? Oh dear :( Well, as suspected, that's CAT-B now. What could be a perfectly serviceable 480 is now "terminated" following a paperwork exercise. In which case, £2800 doesn't make sense - and I can't see a big queue forming for export (being RHD). I suspect its another one to b...

Re: Spotted Alconbury : Black J-plate

I ended up deleting that "flooded" post, just so I could repost when I got word from the insurance company. They just happen to tell me its a total loss and will be scrapped. Yeah that was the basis of my reply. Don't get the insurance company involved in any way, shape, or form it said. Most of th...

Re: Any advice or suggestion?

Would appreciate advice on whether preserving her is worth it for the long run. Well, it certainly doesn't make any financial sense. 2023 and values are still a country mile off P1800ES with no signs of ever getting close. There has to be a bit of heart over head. You do get quite an exclusive car ...

Re: Power Steering Fluid spec

Yep i'm with you Alan, nothing fancy Dexron-III.

Unlike transmissions where they may be sensitive to types, I think any old red ATF will do for PAS.

Grade "F" dates back to the 90's, so 30+ years entirely possible if its been stored OK.

Good luck, its a messy old job.

They're adequate for a static home !

As far as I know, once the red stripe was discontinued the black cars had no stripe.

Re: Any suggestions?

I have never found a Multi-Car policy competitive enough to insure a group of multi-purpose, old & new, vehicles. They say "10% multi-car discount" but in reality, if you shop round for each car it can save you a stack. I guess it's a balance of less faff vs. money saved when choosing multi-car. Eac...

Re: Late Bumper Stripes?

Yep, they’re standard. They are anti-vibration pads to stop the nose cone chafing the bumper. I think there should be some more by the indicators. They fall off in time, or the bumper gets painted and they never get restored. I have used some gel blobs for kitchen cupboard doors. The little self adh...

Late Bumper Stripes?

This is a question many will find pedantic but it's quite important to me. I thought I was comfortable in my knowledge that early cars had red bumper stripes and later cars had satin black bumper stripes. This is supported in press photos which you can only assume to be standard... https://i.postimg...

Wanted : Nearside Wheelarch Liner : Now Sorted!

Evening all; It's only taken me 7 years to work this out, but one of my wheel arch liners is broken. :cryhard: Paintshop #2 requires a journey in the depths of winter so best to have these fitted really. Re: Volvo Audio - What you never asked for....

Slightly off topic as it's Kenwood but i'm also toying with the CD changer port. In the name of nostalgia I want my first ever head unit back - a 1995 Kenwood - but I want to make it Bluetooth compatible. This head unit has no aux-in functionality. I have purchased the JL Audio MBT-RX... https://m.m...

This year I have been a victim of advertising too! :bla: I saw the Lanoguard adverts and fancied trying something new. Lanoguard has some amazing recommendations from organisations associated with coastal use. Like many of these things, it’s just the emperor’s new clothes – any product that keeps ou...

Re: Info & Pics of the Japanese market 480s!

Quite bizarre. Thanks for posting. Many bizarre things in 480 world. Had a quick at the parts catalogue I have and no mention of Japanese lights. The red side markers are in the parts catalogue (3402472 & 3402473) but that's not to say they are exclusively Japanese - I think they might of been in pr...
