Re: October Mini Meet Lincolnshire Wolds

Looking forward to this. Finally I can come to a meet!! :hopping:

If you could avoid 19th that would be ideal so :wife: can attend, but I can do most weekends.

Will stay over at the Royal Oak if :wife: is coming.

Thanks Sylvia for organising.

Looking forward to the report on your new exhaust. Mine is booked in for a full system at Demand just before she goes into her winter hibernation.

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

At last, I have a front lip spoiler! Given the state of the original I'm very pleased. The repaired area has a slightly different profile, but you wouldn't notice it unless you knew what you were looking for. Photo shows it at its worst, but in reality not really noticable. Just pleased to be able t...

Re: WANTED: rear lamps covers

You can try Daniël Lindenburg on the Volvo 480 facebook page. He seems to have a selection of used items in various states (about 130euro/pair). With restoration you should be able to get something presentable. As David said, new (or as new) are very rare. Daniël listed a pair in February for in exc...

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

Thanks all. A VESA refurbish is on the cards for the winter. Along with a full underseal and a stainless exhaust its going to be expensive! I've been quoted £300-350 for all 5 (I picked up a spare on eBay just in case), by a company I've used before. I usually ceramic coat my wheels with Gtechniq C5...

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

So I've finally updated my signature. "Coming soon" replaced with "Arrived"!! :hopping: Managed to get the loose mudflap fixed Friday evening. Had to grind off the outside wheel arch screw heads and drill out one of the interior screws. One came out with a screwdriver which was unexpected. The good ...

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

Update from MOT and mechanic check. High tickover - My fault. Cleaned the ICV but didn't relubricate. A quick blast with WD and all ok. Whining fuel pump - fuel filter changed and sounds much better. Worst case it might need a change at some point but ok for now. Lack of braking - Brakes and handbra...

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

Good ol' 480. :volvo: Never in doubt!! I was hoping it would go through OK, but pessamistic me is always expecting the worst. MOT history shows 39 miles between tests. Embarassing really, but I promise to do more miles in the next year. I'm 50/50 for Saturday. Our extension starts next...

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

Thanks for the how to link.

I asked the mech to sort the fuel filter while he had it for the MOT.

Seemed sensible as its an easy job in a workshop. How a nice 4 post lift would make life so much easier!

Anyway, MOT passed with no advisories. Very happy. :hopping:

Great looking car. Will make someone a great useable classic.

Hate to think what might of become of it if you hadn't taken it on.

Have you still got your C70 also?

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

Side repeater fixed. Thanks David. Had a logical think about what I'd done recently. Fitted a battery saver on the negative terminal, and it is certainly a snug fit. After a dig around I found the repeater connector loose under the battery saver. Quick wiggle and reconnect and all ok. Spoke to my me...

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

Thanks David.

Repeater wasn't working at my MOT bulb check. Pre-DRL fiddling!

Given how they are closely linked could be related, so I'll try and have a check tonight. Cheers for the pointers.

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

I've half a box of sound deadening left so I think it might be a winter project.

Given how much it weighs I might need some engine tuning to compensate!

Re: My 480 life is just beginning!

So a really successful day today. I nearly didn't start as it was blowing a hooley, but my plan of booking the MOT worked a treat as motivation. I started with repairing the door card inserts indoors. A previous removal had broken them at the weak points, and some of the clip mounting holes were ver...

My local mech. is ex-Volvo and worked on the 480 at release (he's not a fan!!), so MOT should be OK unless I missed...

Re: Blue ES on eBay

There's been a surge of good 480's making strong money.... which is starting to bring a lot of projects out of barns. but I can not imagine a 480 ever reaching Capri price level, which I am happy about, for me the 480 symbolises the fact that you don't need to fork out megabucks for a great car, I ...
