Re: Has anyone seen this?
Well good news (for me anyway)! I've finally done a deal with the owner of this green GT, after having the courage to hold out for a lower price. We all knew the original pricing was unrealistic, but it has taken some weeks to get to a level where we are both happy. :wall: I've been looking for a ye...

Re: 480 Turbo for sale in Preston
This has been up for sale for a while now, as I spoke to the garage in July when it was priced at £2995  (yet another owner who thinks having a '480' number plate is valuable!). The rear arches have been repaired for sale, and the seat belt anchor was welded to repair (MOT fail 2010). Its now...

Re: Front seats
Detailing World is a great forum for all issues like this. Don't go there though as it will consume your life!! I've used this product previously for leather issues. It's a cheap solution to restoring leather colour (scuffs and wear etc): - http://lttleathercare.com/product/auto-leather-recolour/ Al...

Re: Has anyone seen this?
In my seemingly never ending quest to purchase a 480  , I've been to view and drive this car, as its only a few miles up the road from me. Good points:- Rust free bodywork as far as I could tell. Small area in bottom of spare well needing attention but solid. Arches very solid. All lights, was...

Re: Really!!!
Think its time to get on the blower and get some more info and take a look. As stated by frenchfries, its the time I dont have to spend getting one up to standard. Im a preserver not a restorer! After a year of trying to find a 480 that isn't either way overpriced or a box of iron oxide, a few hours...

Re: Really!!!
Noticed its back on Ebay with a £2750 BIN price (was £3495).
Also on car and classic at same price (with offers invited).
Just wondered if anybody taken a look at it in person?
I 'm thinking of taking a look, as at about £2k it might be a good buy for if it needs nothing doing.

Re: Really!!!
Finished photos now on ebay.
More arty than useful and no narrative on what's been done.
No rear shots either!

Re: Really!!!
I guess then I am their target market. A keen buyer who might pay £3000 over the odds for a 'stunning green 480GT'. Good luck to him, but he's not getting £5480 from me! pleased to hear it. There's madness needed to be a 480 owner, but not that much madness ;) David Still doesn't stop me want...

Another similar car on ebay.

Again, this would make a great buy for sensible money.

Re: Really!!!
I thought about buying this from the original seller a while ago. Looked a good honest small project car from a seller who really cared about it (C70, V50 and XC90 on the drive show the Volvo passion!). Strange that the new seller has used the 'unrestored' original pictures from the vendor. How an e...

Re: Buying Cat C/D 480
I went and had a look at the ebay GT (as above). Generally it was in decent condition. Rear arches needed doing but boot, sills etc. all rust free. Stacks of paperwork, so mechanicals no issue. Interior good also. Photos of CAT C damage also included. In the end it went for £450, but the main issue ...

Re: Buying Cat C/D 480
Thanks for the feedback. I've been looking for a 480 (GT, celebration etc.) for a year with no success as yet, so thought I'd widen my search to include cat C&Ds. Found a couple of nice (ish) Celebration models, but one wants £4500 (no joke!) and the other needs too much bodywork. Will keep on searc...

Buying Cat C/D 480
Anyone experienced buying a CAT C or D 480? I'm guessing that as relatively low value cars, any type of accident will likely result in a write-off, so a CATC/D 480 shouldn't be unexpected. Getting the CAT C/D repair history might be more awkward though, but a 25 year old + car is likely to have had ...

Re: Hypothetical Valuation
It's easy to apply the whatever someone will pay to any car though.
All cars have a market value, I just think 'classics' have a much wider spread due to the low number available.
I'm estimating about £2.5k tops as it's good but certainly not mint.

Hypothetical Valuation
Hypothetically, let's say you had the chance to buy Volvo 480 Celebration no.480 of 480.
It was in good condition and needed no major work.
How much is it worth and is being no.480 worth a premium?

Re: Time for my 1st 480!!
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132039377579 Hi guys, Just saw this 480 on Ebay. Interested as I like this model/colour combination. If Martin mc's 480 is up for £1400 and seems a very reasonable price given how sorted it is, then £1100 is too much for this given the inevitable bodywork I will need to do....

A bit more info now added.
Looks like one careless owner!
I guess cars like this end up being scrapped for parts? Shame as I like the colour.
