Re: Drl light cluster
Ah, you're hunting for what we call "unobtainium". Which part do you need? The full cluster, or just the usual DRL (Daytime Running Light)? Joep in the Netherlands has made reproduction DRL's and they're very good. DO check the condition of the plastics behind the lenses though, as heat build ...

Re: Favourite method of sticking rubbing strips on?
Due for bodywork? Leave them off, let the bodyshop stick them back on.
You don't want to stick them on, only to have the bodyshop have to battle to remove them!

Re: 480 Restoration on TV
Project Binky on YouTube is a fairly realistic thing - 4 years in, they're still not finished yet - Certainly gives me hope!
YouTube is definitely the place for realistic restoration stuff.

Re: 480 Restoration on TV
As with ANY TV program, its done for entertainment, not for factual content. Watch wheeler dealers and stick the reg's through an MOT checker. The cars are never sold to actual members of the public; Liability insurance would be WAY too much of an issue! Usually, they're "sold" to a member of the pr...

Done the rounds a few times that has....
3 times in the last year. Last time is was "clutch cable" - now it's clutch!
"interior needs repairing or cleaning" - Not much difference between the two eh?
Interesting paint code for anyone wanting to inspect it in person....

Re: For Sale - Red 1990 Auto Turbo
MOT history doesn't look too shabby; Looks possibly low mileage (or broken speedo). Not a mention of corrosion anywhere! Someone's buggered the battery terminal up, as well as added they're own (rather untidy) new charging loom. Could be really nerdy and point out that the recon alternator h...

So, seat update.... Here's what they looked like upon arrival, typical 20 year old seats. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3dlPawJs1YLCX7JIvJkYFac3mSHvkA6-S1K1mRLpM4a_u6XhL5aIpXujgGPQZ8TjOXiN43E96G8cVzgnd_Z8im9KxIf3G1VrqXavLnRA8Z-vzDv8iFovMZS3NxR1110aJ4xhM6ViWzTTxdb-IojoNKPfA=w973-h1297-no?...

So, there's a new update, which I'm kicking myself for not thinking of earlier... After you've removed your door trim card (probably to repair the missing/damaged vapour barriers) https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/ACtC-3esp7ZFuGAMBO8X1D4B_iJfLClVr8LtzlTQIkLHMMER8Zih7DFBEQqhyO07ZlFIezUbXxre...

Commented on the tube as well, but: Rear torque arm (that's their name) is a bolt in item, but will be seized on the inner sleeve. Had the same thing with Britney but on the hub end. When welding in the new panel, go slowly and space your welds very far apart; You want to try and minimise heat disto...

Re: Rear Trailing Arms : Overhaul
Rear Trailing Arms - Overhaul [/u] Discussions with the seller reveal their website is out of date and their supplier hasn't made the voided version in years. The 'specialist' in question was quite dismissive... "we only sell 8 of these a year, so we are not that fussed". Lesson 1 [/u] : You'd be h...

Today there were 1836 Volvo 440, 507 Volvo 460 and 888 Volvo 480 registrations left. Especially the numbers of the 460 are dwindling rapidly. Volvo 300-series: 1562. For comparison, number of surviving Volvo 700-series: 2144; 900-series: 5741; 850: 4658. They've been built in larger numbers though....
