Re: Undertray
Undertrays are evil  How are you supposed to know if you've sprung a leak.... This being said, I still have the one that came with my original blue turbo if you want it, I certainly don't! That's one of my 480 bits that I'd be happy to let go  I'd agree 480 cooling is excellent in my expe...

Re: My second 480...... project 'sleeper'
I guess you could try that, nothing to lose is there. On the project front, it hasn't stalled but has been going a bit more slowly of late, it's been pretty full on at work and I haven't been feeling great either the past week or two so not done much. The mounts are nicely cured now, although they h...

Re: Possible 480 in Cranberries vid
It's just the likes of those M's and 335's, 540's etc that are still a problem.... won't be once the 'sleeper' lives though I'll then be able to identify those at a distance too....

Re: Possible 480 in Cranberries vid
I'm confused :? The mazda in the foreground with the pop up lights, yeah, I think, but fiesta and 480? I'm not sure what the middle car is but I don't think it's a fiesta and is it the car right at the back that we're saying is the suspected 480? Because I think that's a beemer and whatever it is I ...

Automatic gearbox £20 - will bring to meet if required
I recently bought the B18FT engine and box that 'doingitsideways' had up for grabs a while back. I'm not interested in the gearbox or the flywheel for that matter, just the B18FT bit :) Fancied a spare one to play with  Anyways, this means that there's an autobox going cheap, apparently it'...

Re: My second 480...... project 'sleeper'
I've never used this stuff before but I understand that this is the stuff to use for making proper polyurethane parts yourself. This is a slower curing one, which was recommended by someone at work who has played around with it quite a bit. I decided that the 80 shore would be the one for me but dif...

Robou's not gonna like this..... But.... Three magic words- manual boost controller! I made the most basic one you've ever seen but by god is it effective :D 7mm ID silicone tube (kindly donated by the boost control system on the 9-3), M8 bolt, bit of filing.... I'll leave the rest to your imaginati...

Re: Relay
Water pump is mounted in a rubber holder attached to the N/S chassis rail. If you take the airbox out and look back along the rail, you'll see it. There's about a foot of wiring attached to it that goes to a black 2 pin connector somewhere near the airbox. Apply voltage to it and see it works, polar...

Re: My second 480...... project 'sleeper'
Identified some potential candidates for front engine mounts... liking the look of these- http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b432/asummerfield222/s-l300_zpsulic79zb.jpg These are the front mounts from a Honda Integra Type R and I reckon they'd be perfect hanging down from the chassis rails, not too...

Re: My second 480...... project 'sleeper'
Knocked up some fixturing to help me with final positioning of the engine and to allow me to do a mock assembly with the subframe before anything permanent happens. Here's the gearbox side- http://i1043.photobucket.com/albums/b432/asummerfield222/IMG_1553_zps9qp31gtl.jpg http://i1043.photobucket.com...

Re: Day running lights
Are you aware that if you fit bulbs with wrongly placed pins, the pop up motors are disabled ? Likewise if the DRL bulb blows the headlamps won't come up. I've read this several times in several places over the years but never ever ever experienced a problem with pop ups when DRL's are blown, missi...

Re: Engine won't start
Also, if it does start ok with a jump, make sure it's charging properly, your voltmeter should be reading in the upper part of the gauge but not quite red (about 14V) with the engine running.

Re: Engine won't start
King lead goes from the coil to the centre terminal on the distributor cap. You can do the same test with any of the other leads that go to the plugs as well though, if you do it at the plugs then you'll discount dizzy and rotor too, although from the sound of it, this is unlikely to be the cause of...

Re: My second 480...... project 'sleeper'
I think you're onto something there mate, I've been toying with the idea of totally re engineering the oil feed but the way I would have to do it would mean a much more convoluted and longer oil pickup tube that would come across to the side and then up around the top before entering the oil pickup ...
