Re: 2.0 rebuild considerations?

Can you not source a two litre from a rusted Renault? you can transplant a fairly wild looking beast from a Clio :-0 (180BHP ?) it drops straight in , except for the slight mod for the four carbs up front should you feel the urge !!!! Thanks for this Alan I guess the judgment on any engine replacem...

2.0 rebuild considerations?

Hi All, My 480 2.0 has been struggling for 18 months now, vibrations, shattered manifolds, probs close to a 170k engine (what can I say it was more reliable than the tachometer for most of the last 15 years) which has had a lot of its life on lpg. Having given up finding a good replacement engine I'...

Re: fixing cracks in the indicator lens?

Do you think something like a windscreen repair kit will work? The plastic epoxy is probably nearer to plastic than glass in any case? Most of them work by creating a vacuum of some kind. Re: fixing cracks in the indicator lens?

I <3 that stuff! If I was going with my garrage staples I was thinking perhaps some epoxy casting resin? I managed to bridge a gap of several centimeters on my rear lights with that stuff...?

fixing cracks in the indicator lens?

My vibrating engine has claimed a major casualty! My lovely indicators have developed some serious fractures, can these be fixed, plastic welding or low viscosity glue injections? Any ideas?Image

Re: engine mounts?

Hi All, rear mount '3436075 ' turned out not to be compatible with my 2.0 celeb, are there any other alternatives left? Other than very specific theft from other 480 celebs? ;-)

SWAP or buy drivers side clear indicator

I think I may need a drivers side clear indicator in the next year, I have a good passenger side one, mild yellowing to the plastic to offer as a straight swap or would be happy to buy any that are out there- I wouldn't mind one with a yellowed or cooked drl lens as I could probably transplant one f...

Re: LED quvivlents of the standard bulb sets?

What do people think about the bulb factor in the aging of the rear plastic lenses? Would leds reduce the fade and cracking?

T

PS Robert- I knew it wouldn't be so simple!

Re: LED quvivlents of the standard bulb sets?

Hi Robert, I think Im following this ;-) Would it follow that if I swapped both the brake lights and the headlights the electronic boot unit would still be in balance?

Thanks again

Re: LED quvivlents of the standard bulb sets?

Yes thats right, it was Spree, Ive never changed a bulb since and the warm white is so unobtrusive no mot station have ever mentioned it. If my lamps ever failed I would be really tempted to go for the led lamps, but what a gamble on the electrics!

Re: LED quvivlents of the standard bulb sets?

MY DRL's are a lovely warm yellow that 'warm' up to full power a lot like a standard bulb, except my 480 still has lovely clear plastic lenses of course ;-) Sorry for the confusion re-halogen, I was really thinking of that tricky little one that is the main dash back-light, which is both hot and in ...

LED quvivlents of the standard bulb sets?

Hi All, I've been running led front driving lights for years and I love them, esp the lack of maintenance! And the cooler temp does seem to help preserve the plastic. So I'm tempted to replace all my bulbs, even the dashboard (which is a little dim with my latest halogen) with LEDs. Any views on thi...
