Re: power consumption, windows are still powered

Regardless the ignition switch position, power should not be present on the console switches. It is triggered by the switches themselves on A8 and A10 of the CEM or by the door lock switches which connects ground to the connectors A18 (drivers door) and A37 (pass. door) of the CEM when you close the...

Re: New igintion coil

This description is pure nosense. The voltage drops the moment the spark jumps, which is at appr. 10.000 Volts, depending on the gap and the compression. The only thing worth while to check is the impedance of the primary which is responsible for the rise time of the current. The lower the better. B...

Re: New igintion coil

No. You will get a spark, but with considerable less energy. Stick to 0.4 Ohms.

Re: Sidelights blinking twice the speed they should

The blinking function is hidden in the CEM. The current through the indicators is measured over a reference resistor and compared with a set value. The small current through the LEDs causes an "unwanted" situation and the CEM acts appropriatly by raising the speed. The dirty solution is to connect a...

Re: ECU Modification

I solemnly swear that at the moment of writing I am not deceased nor having any plans to stop modifying the EZ210K ECU. Any news about these facts is premature. My post from August 15, 2014 in this thread is quite clear. The bad news, well, not for me, is the stock of ECUs with two printed circuits ...

Re: Turbo meter wont' go pass halfway.

The mod controls the regulating valve which in turn controls the diaphragm which in turn controls the wastegate. The mod is set to a maximum boost of a little less than 1 bar. Provided the regulating valve is OK and the three pipes are connected in right order and without leaks, the diaphragm works ...

Re: The Wolf roams

Any coil with low resistance will do, mostly it is advertised as fit for a transistorized ignition. The adventage of an oil filled coil is a better cooling and it recovers more or less from a spark bridge inside. The price should not make any difference, I remember Lucas used oil exclusively in the ...

Re: The Wolf roams

The maximum boost depends on what the ECU allows, in your case approximatly 1 bar, and what the turbo can deliver. This again is depending on the speed of exhaust gas which in turn is depending on the rpm. So if you try the same experiment with full throttle in 4th you probably see the gauge further...

Re: The Wolf roams

Reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for about half an hour or, if you are the happy owner of one of my mods, by acting as in the manual. The ECU collected a lot of this mishap in it's RAM and is using safety precautions causing uncontrolled behaviour. If this doesn't help you blew something. ...

I wonder how come so few people are capable of reading more than one line of a message, and even then.... In my post the free recipe for simply adding some torque and power for the owners of a red/red and blue/green combination of ECUs plus a comment on the reliability of the pressure gauge can be d...

Use the red EZ210K and the red Jetronic. The loom is the same, the advantage is no check on lambda.
No guarantee it will solve the stalling problem though.

Re: High lift cam

@Ade I was merely reacting on twin cams, not on T5 especially, I do not even know what that is. Also I did not mean to claim the ignition timing was affected by altering the cam timing, because ours is a flywheel sensor, but that it is not correct anymore because of the different breathing. And abou...

I should have been a little more precise: Mechanically the shafts can be swapped. There are lots of guys outside doing stupid things and even making them public, in doing so giving proof of their stupidity. But what is always missing is the glorious end. Only vague remarks remain, because, let us be...

There is no choice at all. NA and Turbo cams are not interchangeable by design, if it were only because of the overlap.

Re: Crank Position Sensor Troubles

The 3d wire is a screen which is supposed to stop interference, so it has nothing to do with the actual working. The pump live wire is activated after a certain rpm is detected, which in your case is not a fact. The only simple way to check the sensor in an easy way is to measure the resistanse, whi...

Re: timing belt slipped a tooth ?

I enjoyed your posts, Ade, just one remark. As I pointed out above one should in general speak degrees, not teeth. Everything concerning this subject is expressed in degrees, like valve timing. I consider 6° the maximum for safety, concerning pistons hitting the valves. This is why the engine always...

Re: timing belt slipped a tooth ?

Indeed a few teeth, or better degrees, do not harm. It even can be used to give the car more power at either low revs or high revs. But what is won at one end is lost at the other.
