The plug is fairly easy to spot it's big and has an LED. switch and jumper wire inside the box.

It is on the far end of the loom(furthest from the ECUs) about 3 feet from the conector for the coil. Not all years have the diag box, so you may not have one at all.

I am 99% sure the throttle position sensor is either not adjusted properly, or has failed. The idle switch should click when the throttle is just moved from the closed position. The sensor position can be adjusted if needed. It's easier if you remove the throttle body to do it as the screws are hard...

CRIKEY thats HUGE I think Volvo intended this motor to be far more powerful than the standard 120Bhp??? 200+ Must be fairly easy? A little history about the B18FT, mostly educated guess work.... :) The engine was +T'd by porsche, and I think they intended the engine to make about 150 bhp. Volvo pos...

I think some of the group B rally cars ran turbo'd super chargers. As super chargers are constant and turbos high end. I believe that they ran at low pressure individually which accumilated to a fair boost and complete drivability. Is definatly possible and could be very useful for street racing. I...

Actually clutches do not worry me too much, it is the gearbox that I fear for! Sometimes i think that i would need to drive/be driven in a modded car to decide whether I want to do this or not. I do like responsiveness from throttle input (which I suppose begs the question of why drive an old-schoo...

In the UK you will possibly be ok without the heater. It's there to stop any ice that may form in the breather pipe dropping into the turbo. If it is very cold then that could become a problem. Ice smashing into the turbo while it is doing 160,000 rpm will make a mess. I'd keep it to be on the safe ...

The pipe is indeed a vent for the headlap washers. The bottle is above the washer jets so there is a valve in the pipework that needs pressure against it to open. That stops the water syphoning out the jets, but also means the pump won't work if full of air. The small pipe is to alow the air out int...

Is the T25 from the 900/9000 a Mitsubishi or a Garrett? What rpm is the onset of boot with these, and what PSI can be safely run before encountering fuelling limitations? Didn't MatBat have some ridiculous amount like 23 PSI on his supermod (don't remember what turbo he had though)? Seem to r...

Bugger! Took the idle valve out today, cleaned lots of gunk out. Spring return works great. Refitted, started motor....whoooo, 1,800 revs. Adjusted idle down as far as possible to 1,100 revs. Drove around a bit, now idle can't make it's stupid mind up. Shudders on startup around 3/400 revs, once ru...

Well as far as power goes...

Quite a lot, but you would be better off getting a better carb if that is what you are planing to use. My guess is that any more than 150 bhp and the engine will melt down, because at some point it's going to go lean.

There are two turbos I have direct experience of. A Saab 900/9000 T25 bolts direct to the manifold. Some want a bit of port matching using the volvo gasket and a rotary file. The exhaust end is more tricky since you either need to make an adaper plate to fit the 'old style' T2 elbow to it (the studs...

You can't T-cut the car every week, after a year there will be no more paint left.

Yes they do work, but only for about 3-6 months, then it's back to how it was before. Regular waxing is proly the way to go.

Well therein lies my problem. Removing the engine just isn't on my list as I don't have the confidence or equipment to try it on my own, and I don't think anyone up here has done so either or could help. Would love to try it though, and once again I do have a spares car...... You can remove the man...

That is one nice car :) 480s look great in white, when spotlessly clean, and with no rust. Sadly in the real world they often look a bit.... ? Grubby? Slightly off somehow, anyway. I know it's personal opinion, plese don't thing I am being down on your choice of car. There are white 480 fans here to...

If you think that's bad, try easy start in your eye. Now that does sting a bit.

Yes, I had previously read up on insulation, it is an appealing prospect, partly due to the fact that it needn't be too expensive. From the information i digested, apparently some people even wrap their turbos! Really not sure if that sounds wise- surely with the amount of heat they can pro...

I suppose i should perhaps start phoning round for a few quotes. I decided that a custom manifold is probably going too far and unneccesary- but a downpipe might be interesting.....wonder if increased flow will help with turbo spool....maybe Richard will appear to tell me that i'm dreaming  No...

There are three possibilities... The relay in the relay box. The switches on the lights that tell the relay the lights are up, or down. If these don't work then the lights will just keep going up and down. The light switch in the car is faulty. A bad connection can cause odd things to happen. My car...
