Re: coilovers?
the 480 isn't a patch on my mk2 golf in terms of handling, nor will it ever be, my 480 trips are always a leisurely pace Are you sure all the suspension components are OK? If the handling components of the 480 are in good nick, it should/can handle like the mk2.How are the bushings from the panhard...

Re: breaking a 93 2ltr 480
The heads from a B20F and B18 are completly different. Combustion chamber from the B20F is the Partagee type, part of the combustion chamber is in the piston and partly in the head. The B18 head is the Heron type, the combustion chamber is in the piston. So the surface of the B18 head is completly f...

Re: Wanted: b18ep cylinder head
EDIT: could I use a 2.0 head without any problems? No it won't fit. The B20F head is a completly other design then the B18. The B18 has the Heron type as the B20F the Partagee type. The combustion chamber from the B18 is in the piston, the B20F combustion chamber is partly in the piston and partly ...

Re: coilovers?
40mm already upsets the geometry from the chassis (panhard rod, camber etc). If you lower it even more to make it handle better think twice. For improved handling mount a strutbar and a good set of tyres and shocks like Koni or Bilstein imho.

Re: Megasquirt B18FT
Timing marks are on the flywheel next to the flywheel sensor, B18FT= 8 (+- 3) degrees with hot (86c) engine~can't adjust the timing though!checking, setting the timing using strobescope? I spent quite a time searching for info and only I found was that 480 doesn't have timing marks

Re: Anti Roll bar
You'll need 2 17mm spanners, one open end spanner to lock the backside of the nut. Best is to replace both at the same time, but that's up to you. It''s an easy job, you just have to remove the wheel. Try here. to get them at a good price&quality. New locking nuts are included.

Re: REPLACEMENT BRAKE PADS
Try partsforvolvosonline.. They stock brake pads in different price ranges. Good service and quick delivery. The pads differ in vented and non vented discs and ABS and non ABS from memory. You can find a great guidance to replace the rear pads and discs in the howto section.

Don't know of a 3 pin connector, as far as I know they only come with a 2 pin connector. Sure you have the right connector?

Re: car wont run tick over or rev up
They do go, you can measure the resistance on the connector. It has a brown and a yellow wire. Resistance should be between 160-280 ohm. If resistance is ok, take it out and clean the tip of the sensor with contactspray and a toothbrush. Another option could be the coil, those can work intermittant....

No need for a special tool to tension the belt. Better to follow the howto on this forum from aibast. Much better and more detailed with pics then the Haynes.

It looks like the Lambda is on it's way out. Check the howto section, there is a great fault tracing topic about the lambda. If you have to replace the Lambda, be sure to get an original Bosch. Aftermarket brands can cause running problems.

Regarding your autobox, refresh the ATF and add a bottle of lubegard before you destroy it with the richmod. Lubegard does wonders for the ZF box, google for it.

Most likely it's the gears that are worn out or lost a tooth. That would mean that you should get yourself a replacement speedo.

Re: Fuel tank
Just as a warning, don't forget to disconnect the battery before you start working at the tank. Also you should be beware of static electricity if you drain the petrol, especially in hot and dry weather. In that case you should ground/earth the reservoir in which you catch the petrol from the tank t...

Great howto James!
In addition to your fault tracing I would check the plastic hinges, if they break the pop up can't do what the're supposed to do. Also weak hydraulic dampers are a possibility for degenerate behaviour.
