Re: Rear Brake overhaul
Yes, completely disconnected.
I've been struggling to get the loop on the handbrake cable over the hook! Assumed taking the spring off (if possible) would be the easiest solution?
Is drift a technical term for whack?

Re: Rear Brake overhaul
Currently in the process of changing my rear calipers/pads and discs... I've slackened off the handbrake in the centre of the car and have got this far: https://imgur.com/OeSgrgS.jpg If I unhook the handbrake spring will this white plastic 'bung' push through (up in the picture)? The Haynes manual d...
SNAZZY
‘SNAZZY’ and a green GT (which I assume was Al) in convoy just off the A11 on Saturday morning.
Sadly, I wasn’t in the 480 which is bloody typical!
I should mention that I live 2.5 hours away from the spotted location and was only up in Norfolk for the weekend. Good coincidence!

Ah, now I may be reading way too much into this, but the version I sent and the version you have sent vary slightly: First: https://i.imgur.com/ZFSRatV.jpg Second: https://i.imgur.com/Ev1p6eC.jpg Where is connects to the cat it’s angled slightly differently. Any thoughts on whether this matters?

Re: Oli's 1992 Volvo 480ES Limited Edition
Front splitter? WR Composites Rear discs aren't usually a struggle to get hold of, but calliper's can occasionally pop up on the evil bay. Rear silencer? £50 Is the current exhaust sounding any more bearable now it's sealed? I did speak to WR about their front splitter but it's bloody expensive! Or...

Re: Oli's 1992 Volvo 480ES Limited Edition
The car has been neglected over the past year due to moving house, so I have given it a service, including plugs (tempted to do leads as well having read Jeff's service guide). I also finally got round to installing the new front calipers/pads/discs. I changed the rear pads but regret not buying som...

That's reassuring, I might look into it then, likewise I always take a long term view when changing parts.

Re: Oli's 1992 Volvo 480ES Limited Edition
I got Lily's built at Demand Engineering in Suffolk at a cost of £800. I got exactly what I asked for, discreetly interesting. The woman who runs it certainly knows all the science and how to get the sound you want. She doesnt use anything off the shelf, they even make their own back boxes. Expensi...

Re: Paint correction, cut & polish
I resisted all temptation to suggest products as it is an absolute minefield and you'll find varying opinions all over the internet. Meguiars generally is highly rates and I used 105 for cutting. 205 for polishing. Wax/Sealant is up to you, perhaps browse detailing world to get an idea of what peopl...

Re: Paint correction, cut & polish
Agree with everything Jeff says. As he mentioned, remember when you are 'cutting' and polishing you are removing paint. You only have a certain amount of paint so you want to preserve as much of it as possible (for the next correction and the next correction). Use a bright light to check your progre...

Re: 1988 Volvo 480 ES - A New Era Dawns: One year on
That colour really suits the snow, there is something appropriate about a 480 in the snow. I can't help but picture it in the mountains with skis on the roof! Funny that, I feel the 480 has the 'living daylights' factor that means it has that feel that would look so good in a dark winter 1980s sett...

Re: 1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Diary - Update January 2021
I don't think I've commented in this thread yet but the craftsmanship and attention to detail is amazing! This car is going to be seriously, seriously nice when finished. As you might expect, I'm very intrigued to see how you get on with the stainless - the parts you are using are probably already m...

Re: 480 review
Very interesting, I didn't think Vogue did car reviews... I think if the vehicle could be associated with status or lifestyle then it's a product they probably wanted to review - apparently these reviews carried some weight in the 80's given Land Rover decided to name a trim level after an article ...
