depends where snapped off, if just the round knobbly sticky out bit then clean it up and add a round section of bolt?

Re: B20F Engine (+ poss engine loom and ECU)
Fraser What would you charge for storage of said engine etc? now that I have a pair of 480 and both have high mileage a spare could be useful:-) ditto gearbox in red one is getting 'dour' to engage first/second I have some room under the freezer now that the Regal engine/box have left for new owner,...

Re: ECU and ignition relay
Have now soldered a jumper wire between the burnt traces, and no difference. Relays still clack and no spark generated, my suspicion is it's damaged other components that aren't visible, or it's a multilayer PCB (Difficult to tell held up to the light) and other traces have been damaged. Defo on th...

Re: Instrument / Rev Counter / Speedo Repair
is there a quick way to 'wind on' the odometer? I suspect the tiny cog has died :-( but as I have a spare cluster I will set it to about the same mileage before doing a swap I only noticed this week that miles weren't increasing and SWAMBO hadn't complained about 'speedo' not working since she'd fil...

Re: ECU and ignition relay
Was also thinking along the same lines with a can of easy start into the intake, see if it coughs to give a sign of life to see if fuel is there or not. I hate that stuff - its WAY too flammable has has been known to knock out the upper rings; Which then makes starting harder, so you use more easys...

you mean is it red? = OKjamescarruthers wrote: ↑Tue Jul 02, 2019 10:14 amWell done, you nutter!
What colour is the auto box fluid?
is it brown? = shagged
bit odd really having a 'turbo' with an auto? I'd have thought you'd buy a TURBO for the fun of driving etc, auto takes away the fun, but I guess you could then keep the revs 'in zone' ?

Re: ECU and ignition relay
have you checked the crank sensor is working? need to check it isn't open circuit at sensor (unplug at bell housing) and confirm 'correct resistance' which I do have a note of, not at work though :-) then plug it in & out a few times, might be a dicky connection? it can be traced back at the othe r...

Knew it! Excellent, but will any 335Hz or 400Hz do? Excuse my ignorance...! It seems these two frequencies do come as a pair (although not dual connector): https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/163719488439?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=710-134428-41853-0&mkcid=2&itemid=163719488439&targetid=595627705353&devic...

two's company , three's a crowd? at least you will be well practised in keeping them running, always a spare to circulate to front of the queue  I'd be happy if i could have space to easily work around the car, but a bit limited to one side only at a time and fighting with the bunper bolts on ...

Re: Blinky 51/480
Have you got plan for refitting the struts? I wish I had disconnected a few more parts. I would consider draining the gearbox oil and removing the driveshaft gaiter as it is easy to pull the shaft away from the gaiter and lose your oil, which is messy and expensive. I seem to have mangaed to swap th...

When undoing teh front nut on the crankshaft b eprepared for it to be 'oh my goodness'. I used a wheel wrench type as it had a slide out extension and was six sided so giving a nice secure fit!! (actually had it modifed by teh welders at work so it was a right angle to give a better 'pull' and you w...

Re: Blinky 51/480
I used ALDI metal paint on the slls of the SS1 and various parts of 480 suspension at rear and seems to be pretty good, MUCH cheaper than Hmmerite and can get it in black, green & white, ideally black but I had a tin of green for garden furniture so green will be used

Was also a tad annoyed to discover that the brake disc dust shield is pressed on, rather than bolted on. Was hoping to blast and paint that along with the spring tops, but will have to attempt it in-situ  mine were pressed on by Volvo, fell off in my hands :-) made new from 1/16 ally plate and...

for what it's worth I try and grab the edge of the spring pan as well, gives more of spring within the compressors . and I make a point of doing it in middle of garden pointing away from house window (even been known to tie the SS1 spring to something as they are double the poundage as 'inboard' wit...

Funny, the info centre going haywire, that is what happens sometimes in my car, too. Either it displays everything, or it freezes (display stuck), or it remains blank. And it always comes back to life. Can't seem to find out why, because it never happens when I am testing the instrument cluster in ...

The other thing to do when testing posts, have a “incognito/in private” session of your browser open. It means your viewing the post as a normal user, so in that browser session, your not logged into your google account. good thinking i think I'll reload the photo onto Google Photos straight into m...
