Re: Rear Calipers

not got any, but have had two sets of calipers (both with "prone to seizing handbrake mechanisms") refurbed by Brake Caliper specialists in Nottingham. Very pleased with the standard of their work. Failing that, Brakes international have them at just over £60 each exchange - Probably easier in the l...

Re: My second 480...... project 'sleeper'

Frankly, it's better to have one sorted car and THEN a project, than 2 projects that are both getting you down.

I'm guessing you'll have the whole bottom end balanced with Pulley and flywheel in place?

Is there baffling in the sump as standard?

Does the crank pulley not have a harmonic balancer in it?

Re: Door Protectors or Not

If it were me, I'd remove them; Sure you're going to be a little more susceptible to parking dinks, but if you're already conceded to it never being concourse, whip 'em off. Nothing stopping you adding them back in later if you find a decent set, of course. Plus it also means you can check for hidde...

Re: 2017 meet ups?

Thats the plan. Finding one the spec/condition/price is a waiting game, but I'd sooner wait for the right one rather than rush into a money pit (#BeenThereDoneThat)

Re: 2017 meet ups?

I'm over in MK, so not a million miles away

Sadly, my 480 is imaginary at the moment. I've a dirty great big V70 though, so at least the badge is right!

Is a T4 swap going to be easier than Saab swap?

And I'll throw another one out there... Ph1 Laguna V6!

Were you successful though? I'd have thought tapping the block for an oil feed would have been much simpler!

Re: Battery drain

Just a couple of things to add.... Places to start: Is there anything "non-factory" installed - Headunits, alarms systems? They're usually a good starting point. Secondly, are you sure you're battery is good? You say it'll drain in a day - That's a pretty serious drain given that the standard Volvo ...

Re: 2017 meet ups?

Cool! I'm next. I'm based in the south in Buckinghamshire. I'm willing to travel a reasonable distance for a meet. I have a '95 turbo - storm grey - only comes out when dry too. Looking forward to the summer and getting my 480 out and about a bit more. http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j235/miley_2...

Re: Fuelsystemcleaning nightmare

Just run it gently and hope that not too much muck / fuel is lurking in the CAT as the extra fuel causes them to run TOO hot :-( you can't really clean a cat, we tried once after it decided to check out the contents of the deep fat fryer (cold) and it wasn't easy . .. . worst case is that it...

Re: Volvo 480S - Very Low Mileage & Well Sorted

Sounds wise, I've had little interest trying to shift my old car at this time of year. People don't generally have a grand kicking around to splurge on something fun for themselves at this time of year sadly. Some people do; I was quite tempted, but I'm holding out for a either a turbo or celebration

I'm more intrigued as to whether the car got fixed!

The rot doesn't look that bad, but then I've a friend who's quite handy with the sparkle stick.

Re: stripping paint!

Don't bother with Nitromors - Like anything that "used" to be good, it's been made environmentally friendly, which means its no longer good for stripping anything. Depending on how Far you want to go, a flap wheel on a grinder would get you down to bare metal pretty sharpish. For treating rust pitti...
