Re: Here we go again...

It doesn't even look that bad, if the seller was more honest I think it would have shifted by now, it is not really the fault of the car, just an idiot seller :wall: Exactly this. I wouldn’t trust him on anything now after the previous spoutings of bullshit and attempts to horrendously over charge....

Re: Battery: Ah, CCA and dimensions

Could be worth asking at Volvo - as I said above and Robert had confirmed, you can still get the right battery from them for the 480. Yes, it won't be the cheapest but equally I have been pleasantly surprised with the last two I bought (one for a 480, one for a C70) in that they were no more expensi...

Yes they are custom wheels not original volvo
Yep - there were only ever 14" or 15" made by Volvo for the entire 400 series.

Re: Parts Required - Rear Suspension Beam

Alan - the Rescue Group is kind of working on the premise that we do have the whole thing as a stash of spares... ;) It's only what we don't need for rescue projects (ok, most of it  ) that's up for grabs... David aye but if A N Other is willing to 'boost' the spares fund' ? ? ?? ? and ...

Re: My 480 GT

Sounds as if the Volvo people are going for perfection rather than being realistic about the age of the car. Brake disc back plates aren't an MOT item as far as I know - I suppose if there was a risk of a bit breaking off and getting caught in the brakes that would be an issue but otherwise... my 44...

Re: 480 review

Absolutely Ben! At the end of the day as long as you, or I, or anyone else are happy with the car we drive that's all that matters :D Personally, I think the 2.0 is plenty powerful enough, because I'm not interested in outright speed. As you say the legal limit is 70mph; the top speed capability bei...

Re: 480 review

You are quite right, Sylvia. The motoring press was - at best - lukewarm and - at worst - downright dismissive of the 480 when it came out. The 480 came out during the era of the hot hatch - think Escort XR3, Fiesta XR2, Golf GTi etc. This car was such a change for Volvo, and looked like the sort of...

Re: B18FT engine (attached to a renault)

18 previous owners ? Sounds very unloved  I know we all like different things but have no idea what people see in these ugly little boxes. I do like the original R5, especially the Gordini, however I agree that by the 2nd gen it looks a bit dumpy I'm afraid I'm with Sylvia on this one Ben. Sti...

Re: Battery: Ah, CCA and dimensions

Ha - the Volvo ones don't look like that anymore!

My GT is not nearby at the moment - she is wintering at my Mum's - but I'll get a photo of the battery in the C70 since it looks the same, just bigger.

Thanks Ben

Certainly it takes the pressure off getting the spare set of Cetus refurbished!

I'll take a photo of Wilhelmina the 440 on the Cetus tomorrow and add that to her thread - I think it's really improved her look but others may disagree, of course... ;)

Re: Battery: Ah, CCA and dimensions

Unusually for things on the 480, the battery is one of the range of standard batteries you can get all over the place. You're looking for an 027. The 55Ah is a minimum, yes, so putting in a 60, for example, won't hurt it. I've just fitted an Exide Excel in Pud (my Celeb) - 62Ah, CCA 540. She leaps i...

Looking so much better than when I last saw her, Jeff :D I'm exactly with you on clean engine bays. I always have a good clean, not going for the showroom look, but definitely make them a nice place to work and make it easy to spot any leaks. And when the car comes into your possession, once the maj...

Re: Pud the Celebration - previously known as R2...

The wheels look good. If they were Volvo optional then even better, not as if they are tacky aftermarket wheels. With 90's Volvo's becoming more rare it is nice to have the option to swap wheels. Really interesting input here - good to see there are plenty of sticklers for originality! Right, I've ...
