Re: Alternator question

All good now, nice healthy 13.8v. The little spade connector that plugs into the regulator was frazzled, its been stripped soldered and refitted. During my checks the earth from battery to body was corroded and pretty much fell out of the connector so that's replaced too. Thanks all for the excellen...

Re: Alternator question

When you switch the ignition on, does the battery warning light come on? This is what starts the charging process. Sometimes a good rev can cause self excitement and trigger charging, but not always. Also 13.5v is right on the edge of actually charging; have a look at the how to section on my volt ...

Alternator question

Hi all, New alternator and battery fitted. On initial start up and idle no apparent charging. Go for a drive about 2 mins in, normal charging (13.5v) resumes. Idling also results in normal (13.5v) charging, stop then start, poor charging until a drive. This behaviour is consistent .. Any ideas? Than...

Re: Rescue Car: R3

Great to see R3 has her new owner and home. It’s also good to see the parts from my ‘87 ES (the clock, column cover and dimmer), by arrangement with David, have made it safely to you and been brought back to life. Good luck with the rest of your refurb, Colm. Many thanks for getting the parts to me...

Re: Rescue Car: R3

David, thanks it was great meeting you both yesterday , has the chocolate been eaten ? It was a nice feeling rolling off the ferry in Belfast this afternoon after a superb drive around 350 miles in total.. R3/Felicity will be left in for a new stainless exhaust very soon, no fart pipes though it wil...

Re: Survival rates

I will add that over the years I imported 7 480s into the Republic of Ireland from U.K, a TT, Celeb, 2x Turbos and the rest are ES. And god knows who else has done the same in the ROI, I'm in the North now so any further purchases wont put a dent in the numbers.
