Update after 20 months of owning my 480
Bought in Croydon from the second owner back in October 2021 as my first car. Despite being pretty solid underneath, it was unfortunately in a bit of a state with a failed driver's door check strap, 20 year old tyres, no coolant, a dropped passenger door and mangled front wing and no service history...

Re: Help!! Half the electrics out after dome light shorted out.
Crisis averted, it turned out to be the mysterious solid orange fuse in position 23 that provides 21&22 with power that I (of course) didn’t check. Took it out and plugged it back and and I have my electrics back! For some reason my fan doesn’t work though but just happy to have the infocentre back ...

Re: Help!! Half the electrics out after dome light shorted out.
When I read the title I thought initially CEM? I know my car seemed possessed when some water got on the circuit board. While it is a different circumstance I would suggest opening it up and checking it just to rule out Otherwise, I would defer to the advice of my fellow Wedgeneers who are actually...

Help!! Half the electrics out after dome light shorted out.
Hi all, was replacing my headliner yesterday when two of the spade connectors touched and blew a fuse. Have replaced the fuse (22) but now the info-centre, glovebox lights, fan and radio no longer work and there is no power going to fuses 21 and 22. Was thinking maybe a relay has popped, if so, whic...

Re: Paris Edition found in Virginia salvage yard (J79 GOR)
Wow! I'm surprised to see this, especially as it's only a couple hours away from my house! Wondering how this was originally imported to the US as it wouldn't have been able to be legally registered on the road unless maybe owned by a dealer. Does anyone have a link to the original FB post which fo...

Paris Edition found in Virginia salvage yard (J79 GOR)
Hi all, Came across a post of FB where someone spotted an ultra-rare UK spec RHD Paris Blue Limited Edition 480 languishing in a scrap yard called '234Pickurparts' in Manassas North Virginia. According to the service book, this car used to have the registration 'J79 GOR' before being imported into t...

Re: “Mixed to VIN” aerosol touch-up paints?
Was that for aerosol paint, not for a professional spray kit? That was for a spray can of cellulose paint, I don’t have access to a spray kit, so did it by hand and turned out ok! Like Jeff said, the match may not be 100%, especially depending where on the car you plan to spray due to UV damage ove...

Re: “Mixed to VIN” aerosol touch-up paints?
I used ‘Car Colour Services’ to get some Smoke Silver (306) paint for my front spoiler. Based on my experience for that particular colour, the match is excellent. They have fair prices too and the delivery was quite quick

Hope this helped.

Re: 480 Lookalike ?
That’s a Ford Capri - basically a Mazda underneath I think.
I agree, there are definite similarities with the front end. Even the steering wheel looks similar.
I’m surprised that’s a US advert as they never sold them outside of Australia and NZ

Hmmm. I think you’ve confirmed my suspicion.

Lambda light on gauge cluster??
Hi all, The other day I took my gauge cluster out to change the bulbs but discovered the icon for the green lambda triangle next to the handbrake light has a plastic blank plug instead of a bulb. Seeing as my car has a catalytic converter (and therefore a lambda sensor), I thought it would have one ...

Re: My 480s so far!
Well the new starter turned up today so went about putting that on but out of curiosity I thought I'd try start the car up again and obviously it started up first time 😂 Aha! It's a shame I didn't see your post before you bought a new starter as I'd have suggested giving the starter motor wires a w...

Re: Welcome Seymour
Was wondering what engine Seymour has. Being a Phase 1 on a G-plate with plain B-pillar covers I'd have thought it was a B18E. Although it seems to have the inlet manifold from the later B18FP? I suppose whether it has a catalytic converter or not will be the giveaway. :? I came across a picture of ...

Re: Welcome Seymour
Seymour Butts looks fantastic. I believe you showed me this car the last time I visited your place - had no idea so much work had been done to it!
What’s your secret with the dashboard bulbs? They look incredibly bright compared to my dim ones (even after I replaced them). Are they LEDs?

Re: Snazzy's story
Love the progress, sound deadening is something I want to fit to mine in the summer. As for the grab handles, they won't fit well as you don't have the support brackets for them. As you probably know, only the very, very, very early 480's (basically pre-production) had rear grab handles - so those b...
