Sounds a bit steep for a 2litre to me, but it looks quite good.

It's only at £450 now, so he might be disappointed.

How did you increase the boost?
As long as you don't go further than the 1 bar(14.7psi) red line, you should be OK. The fuelling needs to keep up with the boost pressure and as the 480 runs a 1bar MAP sensor, it fuels it adequately up to 1 bar.

The gearbox, however, is another matter...

I know you...welcome! We almost arranged a meet once and I was going to bring my 480 along. I have a '94 turbo and love it. Mechanically-wise, a well-looked after one is pretty reliable and mine can give an average 36mpg when driven sensibly. However, who wants to be sensible and a turbo with a "Ric...

How should a 480 handle?

I've read some threads about 480 handling problems, primarily that the handling becomes sloppy and lazy as bushes wear. Mine is the opposite; the turn in is ferocious and it almost feels like a mid-engined car in that it pivots around the middle and seems to want to slide, but it never does. It isn'...

Never fails to surprise me!!

After 9 months of ownership, I just discovered that my 480 has headlamp washers! Do they all have that feature?

Such a cool car...

This is a horrible job and to give you enough inner cable to bend 90degrees, make sure you have pushed the outer cable fully into the bulkhead.

I didn't at first and it caused me all sorts of bother.

Oh, and welcome!

Hi, I will sell my 480 if you like and I am in Kent, Tunbridge Wells to be precise. It is a 1994M manual turbo in black, with vitually no rust, recent cambelt/tensioners and everything works. Only bad bits are a lack of front grille and fog lamps, but it looks much harder without them I think, and t...

I was hoping for more about £750. It has to be worth more than £400, but I doubt I'd get four figures for it. I should be so lucky!

I'm looking to swap it for a 205gti, so it looks like it's worth a straight swap.

Cheers,

Rough value of my 480?

I have a 1994M 480 turbo, in black.
101K miles, but not much history, recent cambelt and tensioners.
No rust, just a couple of little dents.
Good interior and everything works.

Any ideas please?

Oh shut up!! I am about to maybe swap mine for a 205gti and I am worried I will miss the 480 uncontrollably. Having said that, I can happily leave my 480 on the drive for weeks whilst I drive the Matra without missing it. But that is the point, the 480 is on the drive! I do love 205s though... Oh fo...

Persaude me...

...not to swap my 1994 480 turbo for a 1987 Pug 205 1.6 gti. I've been a fan of the 205 since it came out in 1983 and I've had 5, but never a gti. I was about to buy one and the deal fell through leaving me with a pocket-full of cash, so I bought the 480. I didn't really expect to like it, but I do ...

My gearbox too whines in all gears, I'm guessing the bearing on the output shaft. Does anyone have experience of these boxes actually dying or do they just rumble and whine for years? I changed the oil and the old oil was pretty clean with no filings in it. My new oil was from Comma and they claim i...

Like usual, I drove my 480 the 25 miles to work on winding A and B roads, apart from a short straight bit when I hit 125.

Great fun!
