Re: Disaster!

I have sourced a sub frame from a celebration! Hurray!
From Terry in East Yorkshire, what a hero!
Thanks everyone here for pointing me in the right direction.
I will no doubt be back again for more advice!

Re: Disaster!

Obviously a replacement subframe is the preferable option.
If rung around all the Volvo breaker in the north with no luck.
I’m waiting on Terry who has a celebration but he didn’t want to break it that far yet, so was going to look to see if he had another!?!

Re: Disaster!

I have spoke to someone who is prepared to weld a repair but obviously my subframe has to be in a condition to weld to ie not rusty.
It didn’t look too bad but I’d have to have a better look

Re: Disaster!

Thanks yes, I’m definitely hoping to get a full sub frame rather than repair. Although mine doesn’t seem to particularly rotten, the bracket has simply just sheared and is hanging on by a thread. I would post a picture but I’ve never managed to do that here. There’s a photo of the Facebook 480 UK gr...

Disaster!

My mounting bracket on my subframe that holds the lower arm on has sheared and nearly snapped off! Has anyone had experience of this? And what have you done/had done? My Mechanic reckons you’d have to be a very good welder to put your name to welding a new bracket to the subframe. So has anyone got ...

Re: Alternator replacement help!!!

Hi David.

Thanks for the offer but I'm in too deep to drive I'll get there in the end I'm sure. But if I'm really struggling I might call you for some advice, if that's okay?

Thanks
Nigel

Re: £5k for a really rough 'film prop' 480

Clearly this car is not worth £5000. However, I'm not sure the Benefit in emailing him to say it's only worth £500! Surely it has to be worth more than £500..... Scrap value is around £200/300. We have to believe cars like this are worth being alive thus worth more otherwise sellers want bother and ...

Lower main seal leak?

Hi all I have had a oil leak for a while (not sure how long) I've investigated and thought it was the sump pan seal but! I took it to the garage to today after their investigations they said it was the 'lower main seal' which was a engine out job and they thought my clutch was high and apparently ma...

Re: 480 review

It's all about the cornering for me, like folk have said on UK roads you can't legally drive faster than 70. So for me the fun is though the bends and I don't reckon there much better in it's class or generation. Though, I don't have a vast body of cars driven to compare it to but I love the 480!

Re: Tyre Thread

I've just bought some Celebration wheels (I would put a photo up but I've never sucessfully done so on here 😬) I'm going to put some new tyres on for track day use but not slicks as I'll be driving to and from the track. What would people suggest, including size? Currently they have 185/55R15 82V on...

Re: Improving 2.0l for track days

Definitely, it will always be a family car first and foremost. I just a case of looking after it in the best way for what I'm doing, I want to replace anything that needs it which will improve it for tracking it, without compromising its daily capabilities. I think I spare set of wheel with some goo...

Re: Improving 2.0l for track days

Thanks for your replies.
I think a set of steel wheels with some track day tyres is the way to go and a good shout loose some weight from the car.

Re: Improving 2.0l for track days

Thanks for that. I would love to have money and space to have a dedicated track car but I have neither! I have changed the brake fluid after the first track day and my brakes survived better and didn't going soft. Could you explain the simple ducting you talk about for cooling the brakes? I have tho...
