Re: Location of British 480 drivers

Another darkness fan. I'd call myself a fan-ish, in that I still like their stuff though didn't they split up and re-form?

I went to Lowestoft once, though before I owned a 480...

Re: derusting & repainting

When you say on the inside, do you mean from inside the car (access from the boot I guess-not that I've noticed) or by getting round the back of the lip inside the wheel arch?

Re: My new life with a youngtimer

Had a vaguely similar indicator problem a few years ago which might have been caused by one of the plugs to the CEM being not fully enguaged-If you've done anything with CEM recently it might be worth a quick check?

Re: damp rear passenger footwell

The panels above the rear (side) windows would also be a possible place for ingress. I believe they are held to the car by some plastic pins which also seal the holes they push into from letting water in!

Re: Heater Issues

Merry Christmas Drew! Glad you're making progress with the dashboard. Are you sure that its the plug from wiring harness to pcb that is the reason the infocentre isn't working? Try pushing on the pcb instead....often the poor connection is between pcb and the metal prongs which transfer the signal t...

If you've not reset the codes by cancelling them/leaving the battery disconnected for the requisite length of time then the codes will still be there....

Re: 480 history

Porsche definitely tweaked the turbo engine up to about 180BHP but volvo then detuned it to 120BHP. Didn't think that Porsche had a look at the non-turbo engines. I believe all had their origins in the Renault units but Volvo upgraded them. But then, I'm just regurgitating what I've read. There is s...

Just go for the best condition you can find for the money you want to spend! The later versions tend to be a little better electronically I believe.
