Re: Full list of UK spec colours?

The clear lenses question seems to divide people - I think it depends what colour car they are on. Your blue, for example, looks great with the orange lenses, but on something like my Celeb I think they clash with the burgundy red. Celeb alloys I can take or leave - its my GT alloys (Vesa) I like! ...

Re: Full list of UK spec colours?

These next two were taken in July 2005, after I had given her a spoiler and a brand new set of front lights (still available from Volvo then, albeit they set me back about £200…). I thought they modernised her look considerably. https://i.postimg.cc/CxfN98Ws/Chloe-10-22-07-05.jpg https://i.postimg....

‎Details of Norfolk plate manufacturer extraordinaire here https://www.volvo-480-europe.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=35931&hilit=plate‎ Apologies for thread hijack. We should probably post in a new thread if we are to continue talking about number plates. ‎ Yes, it'll have to be continued some ot...

Re: Graphite grey 1989 480 Turbo

Do you have the original plates for your car? Even one? If so, there is a company in Norfolk that will be able to copy the original dealer artwork for you. The did Jeff's Turbo Auto's and they were perfect.   For me though, I just put this forum's Web address at the bottom in light blue Swedish num...

Re: Graphite grey 1989 480 Turbo

If you want a plate with the proper old font, which finishes off the car nicely, you can get them quite easily from online number plate places like Plates For Cars. Just had a look at that site James, needless to say I think I have found a new place to exercise my religious obsession with period-co...

Re: Full list of UK spec colours?

Thanks for tackling Ben's question, Sylvia - that set of brochures is, indeed, the best source for the UK colours, especially since at times they had different names to the rest of Europe. The 1992 ES that is referred to in my signature block was oyster-grey metallic; it was a very nice colour and ...

If you want a plate with the proper old font, which finishes off the car nicely, you can get them quite easily from online number plate places like Plates For Cars. In France it is slightly different: the I C O N I C black plates were replaced in 1994. Unlike in the UK, where the plate can stay wit...

Re: Graphite grey 1989 480 Turbo

also a quick question:

I don't suppose your car retains it's original pre-1994 licence plate? I am very fond of this style of plate and they seems to be very rare now, despite the fact that it is no longer necessary to change them - or am I wrong on that ?

Re: Graphite grey 1989 480 Turbo

Thanks ! In regards to painting bear in mind that on the bonnet, shovel-nose and bumpers the material requires a special process that may cost more, but there are plenty of people on here who know more about it than me! Interesting, I'll search more information. But now, news gas springs : ht...

Re: Full list of UK spec colours?

Looking here, there is a list of codes/colours and corresponding models they were used on :D I could write a list of the just 480 ones but I think it's easy enough to scroll through. 311 - Lavender metallic does show as used only on the 480....we should hunt one down! Not a UK car but they are very...

Re: Full list of UK spec colours?

Thanks that is really fascinating! I always thought that Lavender was the most obscure colour on the 480, and the one that seems the rarest. What would one reckon the rarest/least popular colour was. The Arctic blue on mine is frequently touted as 'the nicest' one they put on the car (I would say it...

Full list of UK spec colours?

'Morning all I was wondering what colours were available in the UK that are not available in NL, and therefore not on the main site's list. I say this because I remember a little while back an 87 car was inter- I mean uncovered in daily use that was in a bronzy-gold colour. At the time it was said t...

Looks like a tough, but by no means unassailable project! You will definitely have a great car at the end of it. Judging from the MOT history, Looks like its a daily driver too!
Brilliant glad to see another one as a daily! Have still yet to see another on the road other than mine (discounting the one I saw in Bosnia that started my obsession)

the "hole" in the hardboard should be rectangular - the clip should only really go in one way, then rotate 90 degrees
yeah, it's how to rotate it when the card is on.

Re: How to make Door Trim Clips

The bottom clips are hook like, and slot into the plastic door card. The top mounts use the branches to grip the plastic door card. It could be one of two things: 1) The hardboard part of the door card is split and worn, allowing the fastener to pull out/away 2) the plastic part of the inner door c...

Re: Red '89 car King's Lynn on eBay

Seems to have very low miles, but as I know all too well, it could be a broken speedo  Back in 2005 the mileage was 55490, So I'd suspect replacement dashboard. went off the road around 2009. Looks to be a little bit of arch grot, and the paint has suffered but doesn't look un-saveable.... I...
