Re: Why My Dash Creaked

What are you using for the repair?

I have had things like this on other cars and wonder if it would help to fitting strips of aluminium over groups of screw holes to give more strength/rigidity to the dash panel either bonded to the plastic or just held by the screws.

Re: Driving from SE England to the north, advice needed

Pick the scenic route if you have the time, motorways are boring. I like the scenery in the lakes and the moor roads Having made a few recent trips up and down the M6 be prepared for a bit of slow moving traffic. Also if you drive at the national speed limit you will have trucks sitting up your back...

It arrived just as I was leaving for the weekend.

Seems to be in one piece so will get it back together and see what else is not working.

Re: Blinky 51/480

I had a look at the car tonight and thought I would check the fault codes for the ABS as the dash had been bodged. I havent had the dash back so perhaps this is why it didnt work for me. Jumper moved to position 3, turned ignition to II, waited about 10 sec. pressed the button for more than 1 second...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Quick question.

The brake pads and discs front and rear. Are they the same for all models.

The car is currently at my friends so not quite easy to check at the moment.

Re: Are my brakes working properly?

Try an buy the 5 litre bottle of brake fluid, I decant it in to smaller bottles to make it easy when filling. old water bottle are good with the sports cap. You did well getting the old fluid out will only be a good thing. Did you consider changing the hoses? The dirt comes from a few places and rub...

Re: Blinky 51/480

it was already broken thanks for repairing them.

How bad were they?

Atleast with them back to factory condition it eliminates them from the fault finding process :hopping:

Re: Blinky 51/480

Fair enough about if it aint broke.

However I will give it some thought, I dont think a car with 130-150k will be in prime condition.

The belts on the to do list for def though.

Any idea about the correct waterpump for a 2.0 with a/c though?

Re: Blinky 51/480

Whilst my dashboard is away on its european tour I have been thinking aboutother jobs to do. As a normal precaution I replace the timing belt and water pumps on all new purchases unless I have good evidence of it being done. I am not 100% sure when this was done though it was within the last 6years....

Re: On the subject of Insurance

It can be a worry when they value the car against the market. I had a problem about 10years ago when they under valued a car I had written off. there were plenty similar cars on the road but mine had a rare engine. so I had to find adverts to justify a higher value. They didnt like it but had to giv...

Re: Blinky 51/480

It is something to consider, I would only use a bit of the arch itself. If you avoid the vertical bit of the panel it does help the finish. The inner wing is the harder to do and often needs more work. I am a long way off breaking out the plasma cutter but if a cheap set of 440/460 wings turn up I w...
