I can't tell you much about it right now because I'm just off to visit my parents, but I'll be back by Saturday latest, so that I can tell you the details...

Cheers:

Dunno about them numbers, but here is a guy who does it for some 35 quids. He did it for numerous cars of the local Volvo club, including my 850 T5. It's been working since then without a glitch...

Holy cow, am I the oldest here?
38 now, had my first 480 at 35, which was my third (own) Volvo.
I always wanted one, ever since it had been launched. I'm planning to keep this one until it becomes old timer, also planning to get another ones to restore them. Who knows...

My car did the same when dirt got into the towbar's electric socket, making the connections rot, causing some short circuit.

Dunno if you have a towbar, though. This is just to indicate that the reason could just as well be a short circuit or a flooded lamp, for example...

In next 20 years we'll be probably ran out of petrol. So all our 480 will be uselless :( I don't think so. Oil is enough for some 50 more years and they keep finding more and more resources. Maybe petrol will be bloody expensive then, but also the oldtimer business is too important to be left ignor...

If I were in the UK, where one can get a 480 for beans, I would not hesitate. I would get one or two for sure. OR, I would search for the perfect one, a low miles Celebration or GT, which I would restore to 100% condition and would lock up in a barn. THEN, 20 years later I would pull it out and woul...

My car is from Italy and it has a nice story. It belonged to a lady in Bologna who used it for transport to her seaside cottage, towing her jet ski. (Thus the car had a towbar, which I sold later.) It was imported to Hungary in September, 2001. The guy who bought it, went to Italy to buy an Opel Cor...

I think the 480 and wood inserts are two different worlds.
I would not put wood in a 480.
